my plant was stretched at first so i found a much more powerfull light to use. after only like 15-20 minutes of it being on the plant the leaves went from how they should look to pointing up vertical. im guessing that this is bad. any ideas? the light was about 2 inches from the plant

Leaves pointing/reaching for the light/sun are a normal display,your plant is happy & it's showing you :hump:

idk..the light makes a loadddd of heat and it seems like it looks more unhealthy than before. are you guys sure its not like burning the plant? the light is made to display christmas decorations in the front of houses. so its very bright

it is a halogen fl 25 200w 120v
this is my first grow.. i dont know very much about lighting i just knew i needed something stronger because my plant was stretching

well its confusing cause the label says both halogen and flo. but im not planning on taking to many chances. ill go back to my weaker flo light until i can get ahold of a decent cheap grow light

well now that my plant seems somewhat hurt what should i do? should i keep it out of light for some time? or will the old flo light help it recover?

whats your lighting schedule? if its light time then keep a light above it. if you start messing around with the schedule it can cause some bigger problems than youve already got. you can get cfl's pretty cheap just about anywhere. if cheap is what your after just pick up 2 or 3 at least 26w - your in vegh so you want 6500k rating. they run about $6-$8 ea. Best advise i can give you is put up your old light for a day and spend the next 24 hours reading the Grow FAQ's over and over. then go pick out some bulbs.

thank you. ill try to get those lights.
what i didnt say is that the plant is only about 6 days in...but it seems to be doing ok. the leaves went back to how they were before
