those are called lateral branches, thats perfectly good in veg. do 6 am to 12 make it a nice even number plus a few hrs extra growing time

iight. howcome 6-12? how does that help them grow?

Most people who have darkness in their veg cycle use 18/6. 16 hours, like what you're doing, is kinda odd because you're almost depriving it of light or giving it too much if you're trying to bud.

i dont really understand... my plants are at the 5th set of leaves with some branches growing fast....is it ok to start flowering now? 18/6 does that mean 18 hours of daylight and 6 hours of darkness? srry noob here..
if it is ok to start flowering how many hours of darkness and light...

Bro, ...if you can't conclude with common sense 18/6 means 18 light, 6 dark....I mean, what would you productively grow in 6 hours of light? :wall:

If you are in veg go with 18 hrs day and 6 hrs night. Depending on how much space you are working with you can flower at 18 inches. If you don't have a lot of head room than you can start flower at 12 inches. if you want to flower put them on 12/12

your branches you see are lateral branches doesnt mean male or female. you cant tell till they show sex. in general males grow faster but you cant use that to determine sex.most people wait till the plant gets at least a foot tall. wait till it hits maturity. thats when they show sex in veggie. 18/6 will be more effective in veggie. by the time the plants show maturity in veggie you will have a lot of lateral branches and a lot more bud sites if you were to wait. add 2 tblspns of molasses or syrup to a 2 liter and water with that once a month. once you get a lot of lateral branches you can flower. you can force flower. you can put the plants into flower untill it shows sex then put it back in veggie. that way you can get the males out of there now and know how many females you have. you have to be on top of it though and quick. also remember the plant will double and can triple in size once you go into flower mode. you want 12/12 for flowering. the secret is 12 hours complete darkness with no light leaks. it only takes one candlelight watt to screw up flowering

The amount you harvest depends on a lot of different variables. Light, nutes, CO2, and strand of weed you are growing all play a part. 12 inches will generally yield less than 18 inches. But you could see better quality with 12 inches. You just have to play with it and see what works best for you. If you are growing with anything less than a 400w hps than I would grow shorter plants.

// syrup? what kinda of syrup? just 2 tblspns in a gallon of water, then feed the whole thing to the plants once a month??
i never heard of that, how does it help them grow?
i thought males are the only ones who have branches and males just make balls..
