HELP!i need somebody help

what up yall i got a few questions and id really appreciate the help.. im a 3th time grower and my first 3 grows have all been success' with each one being better than the time before... anyways ive done all of my growing hydroponically and have no experience or knowledge at all about soil growing.

but i thought id switch it up a littlebit and experiment and go soil for once.

so ive got a few questions here..

1.i know your spoced to transplant into bigger pots as the plant and root system gets bigger.. why not just start out with a big pot to begin with?

2.are there different soils used for veg and bloom? or does the soil remain the same?

3.lets say i use a 10 gallon bucket of soil- how many gallons of water would i use per watering?

4.how do you collect the excess run off water after a watering, because doesnt it leak out of the bottom of the pot?

5.would a 5 or 10 gallon bucket work? and if so should i drill holes at the bottom of it??

thank you very much for your time appreciate any feedback

it makes watering right when it needs it at just about the perfect time to accelerate the root systems growth more tricky imo

soil is the same, ferts change though
3.lets say i use a 10 gallon bucket of soil- how many gallons of water would i use per watering?
depends on your soil somewhat, you want your soil to be wet throughout the container, dont be afraid to really drench them. overwatering is when you water too often, any excess water will drain out, make sure you let them have plenty of time to drain my 5 gallon of fox farm happy frog w/25% pearlite i use 2 1/2-3 gallons approx.
4.how do you collect the excess run off water after a watering, because doesnt it leak out of the bottom of the pot?
i have a big green rubbermaid tote thing and i took some strong wood and some screen to go on top of tote so the plants can sit on the screen and drain into the tote, then i dump it out the window cuz its usually pretty heavy and i'd have to go down 2 stairways with it.
5.would a 5 or 10 gallon bucket work? and if so should i drill holes at the bottom of it??
yes and yes. I've been trying small smart pots lately and Ive been pretty impressed with them so far to my surprise, im going to be using them for the next batch of plants that is going into the flower area so if you could find a few i think you should pick one or 2 up.
