Can anyone help point us in the right direction?
We need to make our own lights as pre-made ones are out of our ballpark price wise. We want to use the best quality LED's (cree osram or etc??) for each color.
- The lights will be used exclusively for vegetative growth.
- The grow area is 4'x4'x18" or so (yes, it's not marijuana if you haven't guessed).
The real question is how much wattage of light is needed to cover the specified area? So either 16 s/f with one light, but more ideally two 8 s/f areas (4x2). Will it be better to use 1W bulbs and more of them or go with higher quality 3W bulbs?
Also does anyone have any good links to information about building your own LED light fixtures?

- We were thinking of using two "strip" LED lights (as opposed to the more common square ones) each placed 1 foot in from opposite edges of the grow area.
