Help identifying, please? I can't find a comparable photo...

Photos of leaf damage, bugs, and a larva. Camera not great, I did the best I could.

This started on one plant a couple weeks ago. Leaf spotting was minimal, and it went away... then reappeared, and rapidly began spreading to other plants.

When taking photos of leaf damage last night using a magnifying glass in front of my camera lens to get a more close up photo, I found these bugs. They don't look like any photos I have seen, and I am out of ideas after a couple hours of searching RIU and Google. They don't look like any of the aphid, thripe, mite, etc., photos I have seen, but of course there are many variations of all bugs...

I don't know if neem will stop this, or ladybugs, or something else.

Please help! This is my medication; I literally am 100% wheelchair bound without cannabis!

Yep! Damage looks like thrips to me! The little black dots are a dead give away of thrip poop. Same thing i'm dealing with at them moment actually. The weird thing is the bugs don't quite look like thrips other than in picture 5, maybe you have two different pests?

I agree with the thrips call.
Get some Spinosad, it's easily found in the US.
If you're in Canada, not so much, but there are ways.

Same problem here. Monterey garden insect control is the best and available at quite a few stores

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, thrips they are. Evil little buggers, destroying happy & healthy plants!

I normally have the Hot Shots in my nursery to keep gnats at bay. I will be restocking on those next week. I never have pest problems when I have Hot Shots in there.

Got some spinosad. Thrips do not like this stuff! :clap:

The smell is kind of like when it starts to rain: that somewhat musty, woodsy smell.

Quality of two plants went substantially low (too much leaf loss), but the rest are doing quite well after pruning the damage. :)

I just found out I got them too. Next year I'll remember they come at the end of summer (:
Check out my thread and what I've been working on to rid myself of the borg. I have a microscopic infestation campared to yours. But I have identified over 4 different pests in the room and have also had PM in the past. All that poop is kinda moldy.

You need to steralise to save your buds. But it requires dilligence.

Spinosad is OMRI listed organic.

Its a bacteria found in an old rum distillery by a vacationing scientist a few years ago.



Have to agree with everyone else.

The pests you pictured along with their damage is a classic variation of the WESTERN FLOWER THRIPS.

You can use biological control for thrips
beneficial insects such as amblyseius or Orius insidiosus (also a general predator but mainly used for Thrips control)

The pictures do look a bit funny though. Western flower thrips are more of an orange/yellow color.
