help me with pot size

can you use a number 10 pot for the whole life of a 6-8 week vegged pot plant or woudl it be too small ? dont quote me but i believe a number 10 is 2 and a half gallons. please help, trying to save soil as i am using 5gallon buckets right now, thanks

In a 2 1/2 gal pot my plant got 27 inches high. My only experince some one will help good luck

should be fine if your gonna repot em in bigger pots for flowering.

It depends on your grow set up. I grow small plants in a small cabinet and use one gallon pots with no problems. There was a contest on here where they grew plants in 16 oz party cups.
Heres how to tell if you can downsize your pots, when you cut down whatever your growing in the 5 gallon buckets, dump them out and see how the roots look. if they are curling around the bucket or are rootbound, you need to keep the buckets, but if there is a lot of soil that the roots never got into, you can go with smaller pots.

Yeah im using party cups to, and as fdd2blk showed us in one of his threads there is no such thing as root-bound

it would be real nice to get them fuckin 5 gallon buckets out and go with lower, im not trying to veg out trees, just prolly 6-8 weeks veg , damn 5 galls are big and cumbersome

but i dont in no way want to limit the root growth..... so if bigger is safer, then fuck it

Bigger is safer, and more forgiving of a mistake.

It does depend on your set up, however 5 Gallon buckets are a waste and 3 gallon is fine. Unless you have 1000W lights, but you said you don't want to grow tress. I have been using 3 gallon pots for years and never have had root bound plants. There easy to move around and no need to re-pot and shock the plant. I say go with the 3 gallon pots and water trays you will be fine!
