Is Ph up/down kit necessary to grow autoflower with AG?

ya this really depends, most of the time its hard to not use up/down. I use advanced nutes in hydro with clay pebbles and dont adj my ph at all.

Only if your PH is naturally off. If you don't mind making a couple trips, buy a test kit, then buy up OR down. You probably will never use up, most peoples water is either in range or too high -- mine runs 7.5-8, which is a pain in the ass.

Some liquid nute systems are also designed to compensate for PH - I think Sensi is one that does.

Most water (at least mine) is not balanced so PH Down is usually necessary. My FF nutes help balance the water, but sometimes I need to balance with the nutes. So you need a PH meter and some PH down at the very least.
