HPS lights too close will burn the plants. They are young and tender. I am not sure what watts or how far but much easier to burn with HPS.

Second point is for sure they need fertilizer. Problem is giving them fertilizer and asking them to grow immediately is not good. They need to soak up those nutrients and then give them more light but for now move away some. Don't take out but ease up on those lights a little.

Agree on feeding but disagree on HPS for seedlings but it can be done but you just be careful with exposure - getting too close.

My statement about HPS was not correct though and HPS lights generally work best for flowering but this 430 watt HPS works very well for both - I know I have used but started plants under florescent lights and slowly worked them into HPS much more lumens especially the bulb I used some 58,000 lumens for 430 watt HPS. This HPS light has more blue than most, nice bulb.

MH lights work well for vegetative work

T5 lights best for seedlings

And yes he needs fertilizer but also needs trace elements and minerals.
My point was you can veg under a HPS as long as you know how, and it wouldn't turn your plant yellow.
If anything the plant will burn like you said, but in no case will a plant yellow under a HPS.
Also, the OP needs to understand it may be the light too. I've noticed my plants look insanely more yellow/light green under a HPS than an MH.
I'd recommend a Ushio bulb if you're going with HPS all the way through.
They have a almost balanced spectrum for both red & blue, which is good for both veg & flower.

i have used only hps for the past 2 grows all of veg and flower and not horrible results either
but yes be careful with how close you have got the light to those babies bc heat will deff have some unwanted affects. I dont think this is why your leave are yellowing though (the light) as i would say give it a 1/4 or even and 1/8 strength shot of nutes something very light and hopefully bring back around

Yeah just got done giving them a 1/4 dose of nutes. Im gunna let them soak it up over night because i transplanted them at the same time.

Fingers crossed they pucker up a bit and turning green again. :D

All good and we agree plant needs nutrients but it also needs some trace minerals recommend seaweed light spray at first tomorrow and then followup 5 days with a second lite spray and then weekly half recommended dosage and work small amounts into feedings along with normal fertilizer.

Just like when we starve ourselves we can't eat a lot right away plant has same issue so don't go from under feeding to over feeding take it easy but work some seaweed into their diet.
