this is a touchy subject many will say a vast array of different things but i will tell you from experience that pruning is ok it may slightly stunt your final amounts but it will not be that bad.
the way i see it if the plant is in flowering and the lower buisness isnt getting the light that the rest of the plant is it is ok top prune you are trying to grow bud at this point and having leaves in the undergrowth just hanging around is diverting energy that could otherwise be used to pump up your buds.i always trim my plants starting with the bottom shaded leaves and then working my way up making sure all budsite have a nice ray of light hitting them all the time...

ah thanks 4 reply - so its safe to prune the top leafs to let more light through? sorry its my 1st grow n wanna take care of her :blsmoke: ive tried to tie some stems out so the flowers get more light n was gonna get mylor but hear its expensive - would it be better to deck my room in mylor and maybe add couple lower wattage lights at the side. :)
1more thing can i use florescent tube lights for seedlings - veg? or halide better...

thankyou so much for any help much appreciated

top leaves i usually leave alone unless they are blocking major bud growth lower leaves are not really needed when you have alot of growth above they are not getting light so therefore they arent really helping to push your plant upwards they are just feeding off the water you are giving them when the food could be used for the nessasary leaves that power the flowering growth... and yes florececnt lights is recomended for seedlings itrs not to hot and it is optimal for this fragile stage but you will eventually need more lumens (light) for optimal results...

as far as mylar it can be expensive i found some cheap stuff at a roofing company it was a reflective low gloss roll of mylar i dont know what they used it for but they sold me a roll for 20 bucks but my advice would be just throw a nice fresh coat of white paint down this will reflect light well without costing you much...
