Hi Farmers,
I would appreciate an opinion on what appears to be stressed plants. I have attached photos of the plants, but the tips of the leaves have started to curl up and/or dry out and turn brown. Also, maybe 75% of the leaves have turned very yellow-green.:

Soil Growers:
1. Are you growing from seed or clones?
Clones
2. How old are your plants?
From the time that I purchased the clones (at 4" tall) it has been 44 days
3. How tall are your plants?
They are currently 24" tall
4. What size containers are they planted in?
5 gallon pots
5. What is your soil mix?
Only foxfarm happy frog

6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use?
In one plant I have been using RO water and only add ph down to get to 5.8-6.0. In the other plant I have been using a nutrient mixture of 4 tablespoons big bloom, 5 ml of cal mag, and ph down to get to 5.6-6.0. (all values are per 1 gallon)
I have been watering about every 5 days with 5 pints each plant each time.
The plants appear to be in the same condition regardless of the watering difference.

7. What is the pH of your water?
5.8-6.0 for both water mixtures.

8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio?
I have been using foxfarm big bloom for one of my plants.

9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything?
No
10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights")
I use one 150watt HPS
11. How close are your lights to the plants?
They are about 18 inches from the light.

12. What size is your grow space in square feet?
8sf
13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space?
The humidity is 30% and the temperature swings from 72 w/o light to 90 w/ light
14. What is the pH of the soil?
My digital soil meter reads a 7.0, but I don't have much confidence in that device.
15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space?
No
16. How much experience do you have growing?
About 6 months.

Thanks in advance for any help, JHIMG_2793.jpgIMG_2798.jpgIMG_2810.jpgIMG_2817.jpg

Could be nute overload if your not giving them just water somtimes, it didnt say how often you just use plain water. Ffof has nutes in it and if your feed water shedule looks like this FFFwFFFwFFF instead of FwwwFwwwF you could be frying the leaves, they look a little burnt and clawed. Just a guess, good luck :):):)

Hi Ninjabowler,
Thanks for the reply. I have been running a test where I water one of my plants with 5 pints of r/o water that has been adjusted to a ph of 6.0 using a pH adjuster liquid. The other plant is fed with a nutrient mixture of fox farm big bloom and cal-mag. I mix 1 gallon of r/o water with 5ml of cal-mag, and 4 tablespoons of big bloom. I then also add pH down adjuster to get to a pH of about 6.0. The plants have the same stress symptoms, which makes me wonder if nutrient overdose is the problem. I have been watering about every 5-6 days. If nutrient burn is the problem, what is the proper technique for flushing?
Thanks again for the advice,
Jacob

Hi hotrodharley,
Thanks for the reply, do you have any advice on how to remedy a nitrogen overdose?
Thanks, Jacob

Hi All,
I have been scouring the web for resources on proper watering and flushing techniques. I plan on flushing my plants and then continuing with a mild nute mixture. I will decrease my watering amount from 5 pints per watering (every 7 days) to 1-1.5 liters per watering every 3-4 days. I also realized that I have been watering my plants and then leaving the run-off water sitting in the saucer pans. This run-off water is then sucked back up by the plants within the next hour or so. From what I have read, this is wrong - I should be testing the pH of the runoff water (to make sure it is at 6.5) and then dumping it. Please correct me if anyone thinks differently. I'll keep the thread updated if I am able to recover this grow.
