I just bought a used 1000w ballast & my lamp plug in is not fitting into the ballast. It seems like the plug in is flipped. I dont know what the exact plug is called. Does anyone know where i can order a cord converter? At the moment i got my 1000w hps connected to a 600w ballast. Is my 1000w hps better to use on a 600w ballast than my 600w Mh? My plants are in flower stage. What will work better on them?

Thats odd indeed, never seen that. The Sunlight Supply S type plug and the Hydrofarm type with three round pins are the only ones I have seen.

Who made the ballast? To me it looks like the receptacle on the ballast is a specialized connector, different from the common types as the third pin is on the wrong side as your picture indicates. If unable to get a compatible connector/adapter from the ballast manufacturer you may have to just swap out the receptacle in the ballast.

Actually on second glance, the plug on the cord to the reflector seems like the odd one. I guess I am dyslexic today.

You could buy one of those BAASP adapters, cut the female end off and just splice the male end on the reflector cord.

I don't think you will find a plug and play adapter. Who made the reflector? Thats the odd part, their plug is different from the common S type. The ballast uses the common S type.

Changing the end on the reflector cord or changing the reflector out entirely is the likely solution.

Thanks. & Mh better for flower than the hps? Or just to be safe?
I think you will get more light from the 600 watt MH bulb at 600 watts than you would with a 1kW HPS bulb at 600 watts.

The buds are fatter under HPS so if you wanna go that route just buy a 600 watt HPS bulb, they aren't that costly to get a cheaper one like vivosun or whatnot.

Thing is though, the buds under MH may not be as fat as under HPS the resin production is greater. So if you are growing for head stash and want the best quality nugs then give the MH a try on a run sometime. Another route to go is run the MH bulb for veg and stretch, then during mid flower switch to HPS for bulk then after week 6 or so switch back to the MH for ripening.

Thanks this was very helpful im going to give a try. It seems like the more watts the more faster it grow. But i got 4 plants in my tent. Will the 600w mh yield less?
