Hello all I am having a bit of a dilemma here and hopfully someone can help me out. I recently decided to start to grow but, obviously it has not been a good experience for me so far. A friend of mine gave me 5 jars of seeds to mess with seeing I am new to this and did not want to spend good money on really good seeds and fail like I have.

Alright so my first go at this I germinated some seeds in some room temp spring water and more in moist paper towels. Everything went great had alot that grew taproots and from there I planted them around 1/4 inch down in some really good and moist soil only loosely covering after planting. After a few days of seeing nothing mind you they were plenty warm(around 75-80 degrees) and got plenty of light I still had no sprout.

Now I did a little gentle excavating and found that none of them grew and their taproot was still intact unharmed but didn't grow one bit. Irritated I chalked it up as being a newbie and went with just planting the seeds straight into soil no pre germination and again no luck. My most recent try was with rockwool cubes and a PH down solution mixed ratio of 3oz solution to 1 gal. of water.

Alright now I tried various methods such as letting the rockwool soak in it for 24 hours and putting a germinated seed in one and non germ in another still nothing. So then I tried just dipping the rockwool in and not letting it soak for a long period and again one germ and one non and still nothing.

The rockwool cubes were placed in a baggy in a warm dark place so I dont know what the heck is going on and why I can get the taproot but no sprout and the taproot doesnt grow once it breaks through its shell. The seeds are obviously good if they are popping taproots left and right and im doing everything right. I am ready to give up so any help would be great! Also sorry for any typos I am using the site via phone.

First, for the love of humanity, break apart your sentences into paragraphs so it is easier to follow ;)

Your temps are fine, you don't even need light at this stage, you're pHing your water, but to what pH level?

It sounds to me like you're being impatient...

What type of soil are you putting the seeds in?

lol I said sorry for typos I am not at a computer I am using my phone right now. Also I am bringing ph down to right around 5.5. Also I can see where I was being a little impatient with the first round but, as stated above the rockwool cubes were placed in a baggy in a warm dark environment and, gardenscap is the brand of soil I am using.

pH to 6.4-6.9 for soil... I've had seeds take a week to sprout, so just chill :)

I've always germ'd seeds in a ziploc with damp paper towel, so your method should be fine. I've had success in warm and cool locations, both light and dark, but germ seems to work better in dark, cooler locations (under the kitchen sink works well).

If these are truly bag seed, they may be even more stubborn to sprout.

You got germination down, so just be patient... do exactly what you're doing in the soil, but perhaps that brand is too nute heavy... flush it a few times before you plant, let it drain, and they will sprout :)

Cover the seed(ling) with a ziploc bag, but don't zip it tight. The idea is to keep humidity high, but not choke out the plant... kind of like a tent.

Thought you and others would appreciate that fix haha! Thanks for the advice I appreciate it and, if for some reason I am still having trouble buying good seeds may be the way to go.
