Help! seeds wont bud after germination

Hi, could do with some help on this one,
I have just finished my first grow and was happy, hurrah for that:mrgreen:.
Problem is this: I planted 3 seeds(germinated)and placed them in soil, like last time, but after a week they still haven't broke the surface-shit, I blamed it on the new biodegradable pots and started off with another 3 seeds in plastic pots (like the first grow), 1 wk later and no buds bursting through.
I'm using the same soil mix as before but I still had no luck .
Would appreciated any advice as I'm still really a newbie :-?
Thanks all:joint:

Is the soil dense? I like using germination mix for the first couple of inches when starting seeds in soil. It forms nicely around the seed, and makes it easier for the seed to sprout through the soil. Good luck.

How deep? I had the same trouble when I started a long time ago. I had multiple problems, and there was no Internet etc. soil is first. Make sure ther is enough aeration in the soil. Some of my best soil grows we're in 1/3 good soil, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 vermiculite, plus quality nutes and only water every 4 days. At first I planted the germed seeds too deep. Basically, all you need to do is set it on top of the soil and sprinkle about a quarter inch soil on top. Don't over pack your soil. Good luck. Peace & be kind.

Must be a bad couple weeks for planting seeds, I had the same problem last week. In my case I think it was the peat pellets I was using to germinate, the seeds all sprouted tap roots and then stoped growing. Just bad luck I think, sorry for your loss

Thanks for getting back to me and it must have jst been bad luck .
I planted them under a 600w hps, the soil was a bit wet,the mix was 4 potting compost to one perlite.
The soil I used was the same bag for the new grow, perlite also, 4:1 should it be 3:1 <little butch>
Thought I was the only one with this problem, got the seeds from dinafem, dont know if that store has good rep.
Cheers all, if I get up and going i'll post it's progress.

I don't think "bud" is the word you're looking for. The buds only appear in flowering. Cotyledons are the first things you see break the surface.

I would eliminate all unnecessary steps. Plant the seed in good potting soil. Provide the best environment you can and wait. Healthy seeds want to sprout and grow. You have to actually make them fail. Dont make them fail.

I used to use the attitude. They are ok if nothing goes wrong, but if there is a problem, don't count on much. I switched to Herbies Head shop (uk) great price, great service. They have replaced seeds for me in troubling times. No problems.

If you're in the UK pickandmixseeds is the best place to shop! However it sounds like you fucked up the germination if 6 viable seeds died... check your methods!

Ive always been a big fan of http://www.worldwide-marijuana-seeds.com/, you get free seeds all the time and their costumer support is awesome, ive had only one time when i ordered seeds and one of the seeds was cracked and broken, i emailed the company and without pictures or anything they sent me 2 free seeds to replace the one smashed seed no questions asked.

only plant them like 1/4 inch deep you can remove a little soil to see if you can see the seed and see if a root sprouted.

I think i had over-watered them, and had the light too close to the pots, damn, when i get more seeds im going to put them into new soil and pots as i still have supplies.
Will it help to cover the plant pots with cling film?

The seeds germinated okay but they just wouldn't break the surface of the soil
