does anyone know what materials , including what size lights, and the tent and so on, i would need to grow six or twelve good sized plants?

Indont think you could fit 12 good size plants in a tent
A 1000w or 2 plus lots o side lighting

you have a big shopping list to make...but first you need to ask yourself the basic questions of what type of grow this will be...will it be soil? hydro? aero? some combination of methods? check around the site at some of the systems people are using and decide for yourself what fits you and your lifestyle....6 or 12 plants makes a huge difference...one is 100% more than the other! once you decide on the basics people will be able to give you more guided assistance

You need to search around the site and examine pro's grows, and most of them have a list of their items.

you need a 5 gallon bucket for each plant...each bucket has to have an air supply to it to keep the water bubbly...you need a cover for each bucket with a net pot to hold the plant and medium...you need the medium like hydotron or rockwool....you need a light...go with 1 air cooled 1000 watt for each 6 plants...keep the plants spaced about a foot and half apart...research nutes and find a program that works for you...in fact, research the shit out of DIY bubbleponics or DIY DWC or RDWC...check out some pics in my signature link
