Help With Grow Box

Hey everyone!

I need to make a growbox that is about 5.5ft tall(at the most), 2-3 ft wide and the same for depth. How many plants do you think I could grow in a box that big and what material would you reccomend to make the box out of? I'm not good at building things so if anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it! I started germinating the seeds today so I need to build something quickly tonight. Thanks in advance guys!

Iif your not good at this sort of things, your fucked. there is no way you can throw something together tonight ( unless you aren't too bad with your hands.) I would just get some 2x4's and then some black plastic, make the 2x4's into your box and staple the black plastic for your walls.

that does sound like a good starting point though...any reccomendations on how to set the whole thing up for about 3-4 plants? thanks man.

um..... do what I said with the plastic and such, that way you can easily cut holes to put in ventalation. do you want to do hydro or soil? what light are you using? I'm thinking you'll want more than 5 1/2 ft of vertical space, depending on hole tall you want them to be when they are done.


edit: remember that you have to account for the lights in the height, so however tall your lights are is that much less tall the plants can be, and using HID lights you can't get the plants right up under them or they'll burn.

i am going to use soil. i only have about 6.5 -7 ft of vertical space in the closet so i need some headroom on it. i have no clue what to do about ventilation or lights...how should i build a door for the box? thanks again!:peace:

take a look at my setup

you can barly see the door, it's on the left side rolled up.
the door can be made out of black plastic as well, and then just velcrow it to the 2x4. then you can roll it up when you want to gp into the box. using soil, you have to accound for the height of pots with the lights, you'll lose about 1 1/2 ft at least for these two things. so you really only got about 5 1/2 ft worth of plants space, and the 2x4's take up room. I'd suggest using all the room you got, even for 3 or 4 plants. you'll be surprissed at how much room shit takes up once you start putting it together.

DAMN. i must say that' sthe first time I've seen or heard of that. you got exhaust coming straight out of the hood? or just a fan that blows the air from another point in the room?

is there a way i could build the box and make it short and have wire built into for the scrog method possibly...would that be a good solution?

yeah, that would take care of the height issue. you can staple the wire at whatever height you wanted, staple it right to the 2x4.

scrog won't be too hard for a newbie like me?

will they cut the holes in the platic for me at lowes or home depot for the ventilation and whatever else?

no, all you have to do is wieve the plant in and out of the screen, being careful not to snap the branch. and I would cut the holes myself.... never know what the people at lowes will think, and it's much better safe than sorry.

I'm surprised mygirls.... I'm gunna move my lights alot closer then, I only got a 400W HPS and it's about 12 inches from the top of my middle height plants. and people were surprised at that, so I'm going closer now. and making sure I can still get a fan to blow up in there.

hmm hopefully those holes wont be too hard to cut. so with a space that is going to be smaller cuz of scrog what items (fans, etc) would you reccomend for me...oh and what should i get from lowes when it comes to soil and nutrients. thanks for the great help.

they shouldn't be, its cutting plastic......

not hard plastic. the plastic like tarp almost..... you can find it at any grow shop. usually one side is white and the other is black. give me some time, Ill tell ya, gotta go eat lunch at work.

dude with scrog you options open for space alot more people including me have built and grow boxes that 2ftX2ftX2ft or whatever size you want (but just think about necessary space for the plant) tell me the measurements you want to use and ill tell you what you may need.

i have enough room to grow in 6ft tall, 3 ft wide and deep. i would like to grow a lot shorter possibly i could go a little wider, but not much more deeper.

ok... but i said the measurements YOU want do you want it the shortest it can be or just half way up the closet or what?
