help with my filter plz!

so I just bought a filter from an AG store and the part were u would connect the ducting isn't connected to the filter. it came with this foamy strip with a side that's sticky and three screws. but there isn't predrilled holes. should I just make my own holes? im asking before I drill holes and ruin it haha.

looks like there self tapping screws to make your own holes but, it also looks like your fan will hook up directly to the fan.. but the directions should be as this place foam striping on the bottom of flange 2- peel off paper on tape,then stick to filter, 3 screw with self tapping screws.. foam is for light and air leaks,,

not a problem just make sure that everything is drawing from the correct direction.. i myself will hang my filter in the tent due to heat smell rising, the ducted thru my lights and then thru the fan and out the roof.. so smell is the first thing being taken out..

Make sure to silicone the gap as well don't trust the foam if any air is pulled through this gap it will not be deodorized.

Should ship with an adhesive weather strip to put between flange and filter. Center it up and screw it on.

awesome thanks for all the advise guys! im probably gonna do wat ur doing but it concerns me because my hood has the glass to make it pretty sealed but its not a tight seal. should I some how make it so stinky air cant go through my hood? if this sounds confusing I can post a pic of wat im concerned with.
