Help with topping

Can anyone help me with topping?
Ive added 3 pictures of the same exact clone and was hoping could someone tell me if I would top at the Blue or Red line in the pictures? Or if im just completely off.

I'm still learning and have only done it a few times, so I'm following this thread. I have been topping at the red line on your photos.

At the red line you're good


Don't over think it, you can just pinch it off

You should also experiment with a FIM. I topped everything but FIMMED one top instead. It went crazy and shot out several tops.

Chef 420 makes a great point. I think by severing horizontally across all growth you will get more growth in return. Like post# 2 . Idk but good luck and let us what you did, and how it went.

I'm no expert but I would always go the blue line, by going the red line your removing potential bud sites, unless you wanted to make a clone.
Well thats my reasoning anyway.

I cut the blue line and the plant produces two new stems which means more bud sites.

I encourage trying any and all techniques. My current run I manifolded two plants because of height restrictions. All of these methods are good to know. Do some LST as well. Tie some branches down and watch the smaller stuff come up.

Topping/FIMing works very well with LST - lower branch growth explodes. In fact, for young indices it can be a bit too much and a fair bit of pruning is in order to maintain proper humidity and circulation.

Experiment with top or FIM if you have more than one strain as some like it whereas some can be more stunted and FIM is more forgiving.
