  • Hey everyone! I have a question in regards to ppm. My plants are i n about the 6th week of begging and im aiming the ppm to be around 700 BUT my water ppm from my garden hose is 800 so does this mean my ppm meter should read 1500 meaning im giving the plants 700ppm of nutes ????? or should my ppm meter read 700 all said and done​

700 when all said in done. Your starting ppm is WAY TOO HIGH and you'll probably develop problems as the grow moves forward. But it's the total of everything in your water, whether you put it in there or not. Consider a r.o. device for future grows.....

Im thinking maybe your ppm meter is broken because 800ppm tap water is illegal in the united states, are you in a third world country?

interesting i wonder if it is broken now that you say that.....but when i dip the ppm meter in the glass of water from the sink ro system its at 55...and the faucet is 800
..

Maybe your meter is fine although 55 is pretty high for a ro filter but its fine. 800 is way to high to grow with and should be avoided because of buildup in soil and unavailability of nutrients because of such high calmag and other levels.

no i dont believe i am! but i am just going to start getting my water from the water store. 60 gallons for 16$ its worth the headache. the ph/ppm from the water store is 7.0ph/50ppm

that should be fine. It saves you from so many headaches not dealing with hard water.
Good luck and nice looking out. Better to test and fix then ruin a crop and learn your waters to hard.
