this is 20 days in soil, and it has always had a little hint of purle on the stem but when i transfered it to a bigger pot it turned really dark purple, even the veins in the leafs are purple. could it b the strand? or is lacking some kind of nutes?

DO NOT PANIC. A seedlings purple stem doesn’t necessarily indicate an unhealthy plant. Please take the following possibilities into consideration:

1 - Purple Stems could be a result of that wonderful thing we call genetics, if this is the reason, you are to expect a purple stem throughout the life of the plant. It must be noted that purple stems aren’t a dominant trait, and are rarely genetically induced.

2 - A baby sprout with a purple stem is almost always 100% natural. Young seedlings are still adjusting to their environment and may be slightly lacking in a Nutrient. If this is the case, healthy plants will regain their green/greenish-brown color within a few days to a week or two.

3 - If you have ruled out the possibilities of genetics and the seedlings adjustments to life, you should begin looking for a nutrient deficiency. Purple stems are commonly caused by a Phosphorous (P) or Magnesium deficiency, if there is a P deficiency you may also notice symptoms such as brittle leaves or greyish spots. To assist the uptake of Phosphorous (as well as most other nutes) you should ensure the pH is slightly acidic-- 6.0 will suffice.

how far are your lights away from the plant? have them as close as possible (temp permitting). how big is the pot its in? generally the plants resources go into making a network of roots before any major foiliage starts developing.

yea its bagseed so it might b a dud. but i have the lights about 5-6 inches away and i started it in a small plastic cup(about 4 inches tall,4 inch round), i transfered it to a 2 n ahalf gallon bucket 2 days befor i took the pic
but after i watered it last night it greened up alot, its still really dark purple/red tho

thats not the problem then, they do like their light though, to little and they give up, more light the better.

thanks :) i just put up some aluminum foil up to reflect the wasted light back on the plants and it seemed to put ALOT more light on them

just watch if you got any creases and dents in the foil it can reflect a dot of light and burn your leaves. ive used it once or twice though. flat white paint is good at reflecting. i got a plant around 9 or 10 inches that has red purple stem and branches, been like it for weeks.

yea i was really careful in not letting it wrinkle. and all of mine had a little hint of purple/red on the stems since the first day they sprouted, they just turned ALOT darker purple within about 2 days.

reckon its nothin to worry about, their tougher than people give them credit for but we all tend to fuss and worry, probably to much fussing sometimes does the damage, you say you got a fan going?
