you could use the HPS right from the start as long as you keep the bulb far enough away from your plants. or i hear of a lot of people using flouro's for the first month as long as you have enough flouro's for the seedlings. im using flouro's for my whole grow and not having any issues... i would rather use hps but my grow area isnt very large... closet size
