Hempy Bucket Reservoir Question

Hey whats up I was wondering that if you can put the reservoir hole a little higher then the 2 inches from the bottom up of where its supposed to be at? The reason Im asking is because I am going on a trip for 4 or 5 days and I was wondering if the Hempy bucket can retain water for a long period of time that the plant would be alive when I get back?

I wouldn't change the drainage hole IMO it is there for a reason not sure exactly what that reason is but think its along the lines of the upper roots collect oxygen as the lower root tips collect the food, now how long has the plant been in the bucket?? How old is this plant?? I ask because when I put a fresh clone in a hemp bucket it could go a week or even longer not showing signs of needing water, now when the plant is full grown she will need a watering everyday in the morning or every 2 days at the latest. Also what are you using in the hempy bucket straight per or per/ver mix??

Ok thank you and I haven't started any plants yet but I just wanted to see what you thought on what I came up with. I was also thinking of getting just a regular bucket (about 12 to 16 gal) and using a straight perlite and only perlite for the plant as well. But, It would be nice if you could put the reservoir hole a little higher so that you wouldn't have to feed the full grown female every 2-3 days,

But would it be possible if I could change the reservoir position just a little higher that I wouldn't drown the fully grown female but It would still be good for week without showing any signs that it needs water?

X, five days is about the longest that I can go without watering and they will look a little but, pick back up after about 6 hours. 12-16 gal is not a normal bucket, 2-5 gal is a normal bucket, I use a mix or vermiculite and perlite but, there are those who run just perlite. I suspect that if you used a 5 gal and kept the hole at the standard height you could go longer between watering, I use 2.5 gal buckets. Good luck with it.

if your plants are going through water every couple of days, and you're going away, you could probably gain yourself an extra day or so, by tipping your hempy bucket back, so the res hole is higher, and you'll be able to fill your res fuller...

That's a good idea, I know this shit is old but I would just turn the lights and the heat down a bit too, two three days won't kill em to take a little break.

you can make a soil cap for your hempy to help retain the moisture, or do a watering setup on a 7-day digital timer (~30$)

using a small submersible pump, you can make a reservoir with an airstone (to keep it oxygenated and run a manifold off of it with drip lines, for each hempy. All a manifold is, is a big pipe with little pipes coming off of it, evenly spaced. Water goes in and is more evenly distributed. from the manifold each hempy will have a dripline and each hempy should have an overflow catcher or all the hempys should be in a bucket that will surpass the amount of water that could be pumped in.

setting the timer for 1 or 2 minutes every 2 or 3 days should be good

XF,
Is this trip out of town a regular thing? I'm just thinking that since you haven't done the hempy yet, why not set it up with a wick system and the put it in the hempy once you get back home. I managed to keep my clone mommas alive for two weeks using wicks...but I had a float valve keep full system too.
Cheers,
JD

EDIT Just saw this to be old thread. He's built his hempy. harvested and smoked the shit already. Oh well...

I use Claber Oasis 8053 units. My hempy buckets are 2L coke bottles. Two drippers each for the 8 largest plants on one unit, and 16 smaller plants with one dripper each on the second unit.

I usually flip them on once every two days (checking pH and PPM with a stir each time), but leave them on if you go away and it will water once every 12 hrs.
