Hermaphrodite fallout...

I have 12 plants right now, all female, and one of them decided to hermaphrodite and pollinate damn near everyone. This plant has been executed for its crimes.
I have a few questions for people who've experienced this. Id add pictures but I tried and am too baked. I think my questions don't require any visual examples though.

1. They are starting to show the seeds and most of the bud has that seedy male smell. Yuck. I have a month left on them which means more work. My question is if you've harvested bud from this kind of scenario and if it was worth the effort? Like I said, the pollination isn't extreme but it was thorough.

2. Light could have been an issue. I have a ac window unit put in the wall and it leaks a little light. I cant cover this though, its where the cold air comes out. Is there any kind of light proof screen, something that could permit air movement but limit light? I'd appreciate any ideas.

3. I have one auto-fem in the room that was next to the hermie, and it is pristine with NO seeds. Do auto fems do this? or was this just gods gift to me, leaving me at least a little smokeable? It was ready so i chopped it, I didnt want to risk pollination.

That's about it. I haven't posted on the forum often but I'm germinating 20 seeds today and will start a grow journal over them. This will be my fifth grow and I hope to learn and contribute as much as I can.

Thanks for the advice, time for a :joint:

Yeah shit like that happens, its a bummer. The bud wont be horrable, I mean you can still smoke it or bake with it. Or you can make some wax, haha.
Sometimes if you drop the humidity and mist your plants with water everyday around the time you see pollen, you can deactivate it with water.
Ive had a few times where a hermy pollenated but for some reason I only found a few seeds in the surrounding plants, so like you said, I think its Shiva paying you back in good karma, haha :)

The Light most deffinently could of caused the hermy, or it was genetics, but either way fuck that plant, get rid of it.
Ideally, for future grows, always make your room pitch black when lights are off. When you do, your plants can switch to flowering faster, which equates to a greater harvest if you grow without problems.
In my opinion, to kill the light but keep the ventilation, I would use some 4 inch ducting and on one end, I would put some black panty hose over the end and attach that side to the opening in the window. Then I would seal up the remaining open area of the window so all you see from the outside looking in, is the panty hose covered end of the ducting.
Then on the other side, I would attach a 4" HID HUT ducting fan and mount it accordingly. There you go, no light, ventiliation, and intake air filtration :)
