Hermi or not Hermi... Please Help!!!

I'm eight days into flowering this plant. Before I had put it on 12/12 (8 days ago) I started to have second thoughts about these little pods toward the bottom of the plant. Years ago when I read Ed Rosenthal's "Growers Hand Book" he had mentioned something about nodes that look like seed pods...but eventually pistols begin to come out of the end of the pods which are actually new flowers. I have two plants, both different strains. My other plant (which has been flowering for about a month) did not do this...so I don't know if it's the pre-flowers that Rosenthal was talking about or if it's a hermi. I want to get some feed back before I just go cutting the unknown pods off. Please help!!!

im in the same situation mate i have 3 that are showing no signs of males or females 3rd week of flower and i have the same style pods but i have 1 that the pods have opened up but no balls or white hairs

Hmm, tough to tell with these pics, looks like I see pollen sacs(balls), but no pistils. If that's the case, it's male I'm afraid. Hermaphrodites are self-pollinating females, in order for them to reproduce there must be flowers prior to male pollen being introduced. Also, are those outside?, I ask due to all the purple stems...if not you may have a P deficiency unless that strain is inherently a purple.

Can't tell from the pics, it looks like male parts or swollen female calyxes.

I have the plant inside. I got it as a clone from a buddy who got it from someone else. So I've never seen the mother so I don't know if it's inherently purple. It does have nice signs of flowering up top w/ new growth and pistils. How long does it take for for pistils to pop out of the calyx after starting 12/12 before i can rule out if it's a hermi?

It's probably not flowering properly because of the phosphorus deficiency. Most flowering nutes are high in P versus veg nutes which are high in N.

I was giving it a 20-20-20 formula during veg. Since I started the 12/12 I've been giving it nutes that have a 15-30-15 ratio. Should I shoot for something different.

Seeing as there arent any preflowers on the plants yet, Id say that those pollen sacs would be way too mature, I would say that they are probably calyxses, theyll open up to show female preflowers probably. If that isnt the case then youve probably got males rather than hermies (is there any indication that theyre female at all?). You can settle this relatively quickly and easily... what you ultimately want to do it isolate this one plant, to avoid pollinating the other and squeeze the sack, Ive done this on numerous occasions when waiting for preflowers and youd be surprised how often it works... If you squeeze one of these suspected calyxes then youll either see two definitive white hairs come out the top or a small puff of pollen (or more realistically an immature pollen sack) Give it a go and im almost willing to bet that inside the sack will be 2 white hairs

What's your ph? that could cause phosphorus deficiency.

the ph is running just below 7... I have a cheaper meter. I need to invest in a different test method. Being that I'm still new at this I've been a little apprehensive about trying the change the ph level to more of a solid 7 in the fear that I'm going to mess something up.

wicked plant I like it. looks female if its a herm chances are it will get pistals like a good female then drop a pollen sac or just get peddles or little bananas. If it is a male pollinate a lower branch and send me seeds.

ya your stems are REALLY purple, somthings up with that. in some pics it almost looks black

Yeah.... I switched it to a high P nute. The new growth is way more on the green side, not so purple. Good observation.
