Hey Bass players

What are your thoughts on the Yamaha RBX series basses? What's a good mid level bass for a guy who is still trying to figure the instrument out? Thanks

Never been a big fan of yamaha basses. Personally I'd go used on craigslist to find something a little more upscale for the same price.

Here's a link to a schecter that has been my go to bass for a while now. Found it used but in like new condition for $300.

edit: whoops, having trouble linking but it is a schecter stiletto studio 5 that normally retails for $750.

There are all kinds of good deals out there if you are patient enough.

I can tell from your complexion mr bigsby that you are suffering from a serious bass deficiency, go to the drum and bass thread to sort it out.

I had the 360 and it seemed pretty good, the reviews were pretty good on it. I lost it, and now I want to replace it, but want reviews from people who actually play and I trust, dbkick.

I advanced from getting my fingers stuck in the strings, but not much more. I think a few more hours (and calluses) and I could have figured out slap and pluck. I prefer using my fingers, and not really into the pick, it just doesn;t seem right on a bass.

I play guitar but ibanez makes good basses I think. I agree with the extended range 5 or even 6 string recommendation.

my first electric instrument was some old 4 string german Hagström bass guitar I bought from my friend for $5.... came with and justice for all bass tab book and played it through a guitar practice amp. kinda ironic since you cant hear the bass on that album.

I have a Fender Precision. Love it. My old Ibanez I got in 1978 stays in her case now. Best bass for the rest of your life. Must be made in the USA. Have a look at other real bass players. 75% of em are playing a Precision or Jazz.
Go used for sure. You will get better quality for your buck. So many quality instruments out there just collecting dust.
