Hi all...I've been a patient for 2 years and been growing that long, and I'm still not that good...I have a problem with having all the fan leaves dry up all the time, until I switch to smart bags and that sort of took care of most of the problem. Well right now I'm growing my main strain of Jack the Ripper. I got 2 free seeds from the order, one of 'em being blue dynamite and some diesel strain. I'm looking for something that will take care of pain...I have bone on bone contact in most of my joints, so it's either put a bullet in my head or smoke a lot of weed and try to keep off the vicodin...well, I don't get on the computer that much, cause I smoke too much weed and can't focus on the screen.

welcome to riu m8...

as far as something good for pain, i'd say something indica or indica dom is what you're after.. jack the ripper is more sativa dom, so i'm not sure how well it will work for pain..

Welcome RC to RIU. There are some really good Maine people here ( as well as others from the States ) that will try to help you out as much as possible. I would have to agree with RacerBoy that an Indica strain would most def help out with the pain, especially with bone on bone symptoms as you stated. I know first hand how it feels like when you are in so much pain, that you are at wit's end at what to do. One of the things that you do not want to do is to take that bullet. I am quite sure that someone will pipe in that has more knowledge than I to help you out. It might take some trial runs of different strains, but I am quite sure that something will be out there to help you out. There was for me, and I know that there is something out there to help you out.

Stay in touch in here please. We are all here to help out each other.

Peace Bro

I personally find inhaled (smoked or vaped) cannabis to be noticeably inferior to eaten (tincture/canna-caps/medibles) cannabis for treating pain.

I 100% agree with you about medibles, tinctures and so forth. My problem is getting the dose rite and consistent. I am also very inconsistent when it comes to making cannaoil or cannabutter. It varies from time to time with potency and effects even if I use the same strain each time. Any knowledge you can spill?

Well, since the cannabinoid content of cannabis varies from budsite to budsite on the same plant--to say nothing of buds from different plants, it seems that making edibles of consistent quality is dicey at best.

For tips, i get the best results with ground cannabis. Bake the plant matter at 285˚ for 30 min. For tinctures you can just throw the baked plant matter into >75% alcohol (i use Bacardi 151, anything with a proof higher than 150 is fine) for a half hour and it's good to go. If i'm making canna-caps i throw the plant matter into coconut oil, then heat the oil mixture in a double boiler for a couple hours.

I never get anything right that I try to cook with pot..if I have to cook it for it to work, then it won't work..I end up with stuff that tastes like pot, but has no effect at all...Gross.

I never use actual weed to cook with. I extract kief, usually from popcorn bud that I save from trimming, but occasionally I use a few ounces of good bud to make a big batch. After many batches of brownies and trying to find the right dose for my patients, here is what I use: a regular store brand brownie mix uses 1/2 cup of veg oil. You can also make a double batch if you want. I've never made a bigger one, but it probably scales pretty well. I have found that 3 to 3.5 grams of kief works great for a single batch.
Put the veg oil in a small saucepan and heat over low heat. Add the kief and continue heating and stirring for about 20 min. If it simmers or smokes it's too hot. I actually use one of those RoboStir things from tv, works great lol.
There is nothing to strain out; the kief simply melts into the oil. Let it cool and make your browies.
No pot taste because there is no pot. These will be potent brownies. If you use a 9x13 pan you can cut into at least 24 brownies that are very effective.
You should also be able to use this ratio as a guide for other uses. bon appetit!

Would you think that a few grams of bubble hash would be an alright stand in for the kief? I
haven't heard of veggie oil being used much...so this is a recipe I wouldn't have to buy crap I don't otherwise use.

Bubble hash is pressed, water-extracted kief. It would definitely work - in fact, it's what i use. I have a 5 bag kit, but if i'm extracting for cooking i just use the work bag to remove solids and the 40 micron for collecting. Anything smaller than that stays in the ice water and ends up in the compost pile.

I started using dry ice a few months ago and I'll never deal with the mess again lol
Easy, fast, no mess, and yield is better imo. Yes, you will get a more refined product using other methods but for my purposes the dry ice is definitely the way to go.

Huh..first I've heard of it being available anyplace other than Elm Ice and Oil in Falmouth. About 5 bucks a pound. A pound of pellets is about equivalent to a brick volume-wise.

Kief and bubble hash are both resin glands, just different extraction processes. Kief is dry extracted and bubble hash is water extracted. you will be all set.

Sorry, but no. Kief is loose resin glands. Hash is pressed resin glands. How you separate the resin glands from the plant matter is irrelevant.

yes, kief is loose resin glads. bubble hash, does not have to be pressed to be bubble hash. either way can be pressed, but that is irrelevant because the question was asked about bubble hash, which is water extracted. he didnt ask about hash(which is a general term) both extraction methods can be pressed and called hash.
