Hi!
I just signed up and wanted to make a post. I have been interested in this industry for a while, but never committed to be part of it because of the shaky legal grounds in Michigan. I have a building and found that I can have it zoned commercially for medical marijuana. Its a small town and after talking with the city it sounds like I shouldn't have a problem with city zoning, and after reviewing the state application details I don't think I will have a problem qualifying. I have about 50,000 square foot building and was looking at setting up a growing, processing, and provisional facility in part of it.
I have the money to invest in equipment, and I have been researching grow operations for a little while. I however, do not have any experience with growing, and have never actually used cannabis before.
I was wondering if anybody knows where I might be able to find individuals interested in being part of and/or running an operation like this? I am new to this scene, and was wondering if anybody might be able to help me find experienced people in the Michigan area who are looking to be part of a big operation.
I have been looking at different grow setups, and think I like the idea of using pallet racking with 2 levels of plants. I see 4x8 flood trays that fit right in the racking, and I like the idea of hydroponic to be able to fully control the variables of the grow room. I attached a picture of a setup I saw that I really liked. I like the idea of running a 8' tall pallet racking with 2 levels with almost 4' of space on each level. I also like the idea of maximizing efficiency and using the space in a way that provides the most amount of product per cubic foot.
I guess one first question I have is whether its better to design and put together a facility with more small plants, or less larger plants? I was looking at different 4x4 LED light fixtures, and not sure what is an ideal amount of plants to put under each light.
Also, from a guy who has never used cannabis before; how would I go about selecting a good variety of strains to grow? I see they have different strains rated on different sites based on popularity. Is that a good way to start?
It seems there is so much information on the internet, and in my position without any experience I'm finding it difficult to navigate through it all.
I hope to learn a lot here!
Thanks!
Matt
