Just setup my 1000w veg/ flowering room and have 2 1000w bulbs, MH For veg, HPS for flower. Now when i turned it on to test my MH worked great, unplugged it and finished hanging the cords and wires and what not. Went to go plug it in, prolly 5-6 mins later and it didnt light up, Scared the crap outta me. Called the ballast tech support and i guess MH and HPS have self igniters that need to cool down after they are light for about 15-30 mins before you can turn them on again or you can ruin yer bulbs.

Just a heads up, I never knew about that, but there are prolly lots of people who do, I just thought it was a nice bit of safety info to share. Anyways, hope this help at least someone in the future.

p.s. I let the bulb cool and it works just fine now. Wheew! :-P

Even if you don't intervene, the lights will eventually come back on. I mean, if there is a power outage and you are not there to unplug the light to let it cool and then turn it back on....it will do it on it's own. At least mine do....thankfully.

The life of your bulb is partly dictated by how many times it is fired up, so yeah...not healthy for your bulbs.
