i haven't looked at high times recently, but it was part of growing up, my mom used to get just as pissed and throw them away just as fast as the playboys and penthouses she'd find under the bed. And i'd go out and get next months and read it from cover to cover before she ever had a chance to get rid of it.
Just hope they don't turn it into a piece of shit. sounds like they want to use it as a base for events, which could be good, but i kind of have this feeling that something like Monsanto has just purchased one of my pleasant childhood memories, and is about to rape it.

High Times had sucked as long as I remember, at least since the late 90's. It's all marketing and fluff, no substance, and perpetuates many false hoods of growing cannabis.

If it doesn't become an actual horticultural reference for cannabis, I hope it dies, like it should have years ago.

I have to agree. Although I'm not a regular reader of the rag everything I have seen in the last two decades has been a disappointment.

Their growing articles are horrible. Their information seems to have a lag time of 5 years. Some information is just plain incorrect.

High Times is the last place I look for information and their web page is seeped with politics.

i guess its more the memory than the current product that i'm lamenting, i was a kid in the 70s, there was NO other resource back then, there was nothing else like it on the market. it was in a plastic bag on the top of the rack with the "dirty" magazines, but they'd sell it to my 14 year old ass, and to me it was just as good as playboy. i'd roll a huge joint of shitty mexican brick weed full of crushed seeds, hike out to the bottoms, and sit on a big rock getting high and reading the new issue. its where i discovered there was such a thing as hash, its where i first read the word sinsemilla,
its where i was informed that hydroponics existed....it may have turned into a turd, but it was gold at one time

Wonder how this will change future events? No streaming since they will own all the media rights? No consumption? No distribution?

Or is it just a diversion into social media/youtube like grasscity and leafly? Maybe forums?

They have to have a plan to make back $70M. That's a lot od advertising for a rag with very little circulation. Or given the losses racked up over magazine and newspaper buys recently, maybe not........

it could signal an infusion of fresh ideas and features, real growing info, real coverage of the state of the cannabis union, real coverage of events streamed live on their website.....
or it could signal it becoming a useless piece of shit, like mtv became when they stopped playing videos and started showing un"reality" stupid insipid bullshit for braindead fucking idiots
