holes in leaves outdoor

Its my first time growing outside, i went to check on them after 4 days since the last time i saw them and they had these little holes with brown edges, i was thinkin its bugs but i want to be sure

looks like caterpillar damage to me.
Some kinds of ants will chip off leaves and carry the plant matter back to the nest too.
