Holy hell my buddy need help, plants are growing TOO well!

This is all from SWIM:

I have four plants under a 600w HPS. They are being fed FoxFarm ferts as scheduled, using coco-coir as a medium, and are currently 6 weeks old (two weeks into flowering). They are in a 78" tall grow-tent, and are quickly out-growing it. With the light fully raised, there's about a foot left between the top of the tallest plants and the bottom of the sealed/air-cooled reflector.

Here is an illustration:

A buddy picked the seeds out. The two in the back are Arjan's Ultra Haze #2 from Greenhouse Seeds, and the two in the front are Special Queen which came free. All female. I saw the first signs of buds a few days after starting flowering.

If it's not obvious from the picture, it's growing way too fast. Averaging ~3" a night. I am considering LST, however the plants are pretty sturdy at this age, and only the top new node will bend comfortably.

Ideas?

While we haven't tried that particular strain, we have grown a few hazes which all got very tall. They're known for their stretch in flowering. Original Haze will grow to over 6', even flowered at 7" and topped multiple times. I'd start tying them down now and look for ways to make more room. Maybe propping up the whole tent. We've had to toss many Hazes that our room at the time couldn't support.

Look into supercropping. Its where you crush the stem where you want it to bend and essentially the plant bends 90* at that point. It does add another week onto the cycle as it needs to repair the damaged stalk but ive used this technique in a similar situation with success. Definitely do your research if you decide to try supercropping as there is definitely a right and wrong way of doing it but this may help your height issue.

careful. careful. CAREFUL with the Bushmaster. Super ultra powerfull stuff. It's the only thing that I've ever used in 20 years that actually killed a plant. I forget the proper amount to use, but it's way less than what they say on the bottle.

You can safely use 2-3 ML per gal in soil just dont use it every watering. Only needs 2-3 doses. In Hydro I use 1 ML with no nutes and half ML with nutes. Will stop the plants in their tracks. Super cropping those suckers isnt going to do it IMO. They look big and have a long ways to go. It would help but not sure it will be enough.

Good luck !

Wow, does Bush Master really "stop them in their tracks?" I did a little reading on it and it does sound really powerful. I'm using coir which I guess is somewhat of a mix between soil/hydro growing. Is Bush Master a nutrient or just a supplement?

I'm going to order some today.

Wish me luck!

Made a quick LST rig, ordered Bush Master, hoping I don't have to get rid of the plant. There really wasn't much bendable at the top :(IMG_20110227_054749.jpg

lol, that is a SCROG screen for screeen of green. lst would be tieing the branches down or outward. next time start with the screen of green when the plants are still a few weeks old so u can train them!

take some clones from the top to knock it down in size a little, do some topping so the lower branches catch up.

Well, first thing I would do is start bending and training those tall ladies so the light can be lowered alot and be closer to the rest of the tops. You want to be like around 12" away from the tops.

Another thing I had to do with the same problem as you was take some rope and tie the light to the top of the tent. Gained close to an extra foot doing that because the yo-yo didn't fully retract.

You cna train it under that canopy no problem. Then when they are the size you want hit it with small amount of the bushmaster in first week or two of bloom. Only hit the smaller ones with Nushmaster once they catch up which they will during the first few weeks of stretch.I'd probably lower the screen a good 6 inches and bend the plants over to fit under it then train them.

Just to update. His stuff is doing well. Bushmaster did stop the growth, but it was hard on one of the plants! Still alive, though...

The Arjan's took a little longer to flower than the SQ, but the buds are a bit bigger already. They aren't sparkling with trichomes like the SQ though, will that change?
