I have recently relocated to a state 1500 miles from my old home and had to leave all of my equipment behind.
Instead of buying a grow tent I have been building my own wi th a very simple design and for at least 50% of the cost of a premade tent of the same size
The frame is made from 3/4" pvc piping which can be bought at home depot for cheap along with all of the fittings needed. It required:
8, 3 way elbows
2 Tees
Black and White panda film for the skin (which can be found at your local hydro shop or online for 20$ and up for 10x10 and larger.) Just simple cut and wrap the film to fit the outside of the frame and hold tight using duct tape.
I have an air cooled 400 watt HID, an air conditioner as intake, a small fan for outtake, and another small fan for the interior. Temps range from 78 to 82 degrees F
The air conditioner is optional as they can get expensive but I had one laying around and I thoroughly enjoy using it to keep things cool especially mid summer.
I finished the tent yesterday and I put in some plants that I had outdoors with intentions of vegging them for awhile. Many are stretchy seedlings but that's ok they will be fine shortly.
For soil I mix my own using:
Pro Mix
Vermiculite
Perlite
Bat guano
Earthworm castings
Pulverized lime
And mycorrhizae
For nutrients I am using the complete Botanicare line as it is very close to true organics. I also have The Advanced Nutrients PH Perfect line and a new Roots Organics line as well.
Here are some pictures:
