Homemade LED Panels, for use in my veg grow box.

I found some LED's on ebay, 100 5mm LED's for $1.00.
SPECS:

  • Small and lightweight
  • 100 pcs per package
  • Emitted Colour: White
  • Size: 5 mm
  • Lens Color: Water Clear
  • DC Forward Voltage: 3V
  • DC Forward Current: 20mA
  • Color Temperature: 6000-6500K
  • Luminous Intensity: 15,000MCD
  • Viewing Angle: 15 ~ 30 degree

I want to make 5 panels with 50-100 LEDs per panel depending on the amount of lumens( i dont have enough info on how many lumens led's produce) this way i can mount the panels on each wall and the ceiling of my Vegetative grow box.

I plan on using my 75 watt solar panel with deep cycle batteries as my power source.

Is there anyone out there that has done this? i would like to know if its worth it, i figure it will cost less than $50 to make? Resistors are very cheap, i think the most costly part will be buying some wooden, or plastic panels and solder gun/iron since i somehow lost mine.

thanks in advance for any help.

15,000MCD at 30degrees is about 3.2 lumens, for a total of 320 across 100 LEDs. Unless the MCD stands for megacandelas instead of millicandelas like I assumed, if it's megacandelas you have yourself an array of LEDs capable of replacing the light from the sun about 3x over.

Assuming my math is somewhat right, idk honestly I'm stoned.

Pretty much. You'd have to like attach those LEDs directly to your plant to have much of an effect lol

15 ~ 30 degree lens angles that is extremely tight and I've never heard of any LED grow light company going lower than 60. You are going to need a shit load of them because that light won't spread much at all
