Fuck I'm excited!! My old ride decided to take a dump on me.... no idea why... drove it for a couple years and then one day the engine just BLEW....

R.I.P 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was purchased brand new.... with less than 150,000 km's... :(

Oh well, it's still worth a few grand... just needs an engine swap.. and some TLC and it's back up and running... just not worth my effort to replace it... I want a NEW car!

ps: anyone want a 2002 Mitsubushi Eclipse.... no rust at all... no damage... just needs a motor?? ;) 2 grand takes it away..... was appraised at $4500 still.

When I lived in Atlanta that was the number one car you would see broken down on the sides of the highway, don't fool yourself you will be lucky to get 500 bucks for it with a blown motor, scarp yard will probably give you 300 bucks, just a FYI.......JR

DO NOT BUY A BRAND NEW CAR.

Buy an older car. It will cost less. Insurance won't kill you. And if you find a 4 cylinder vehicle that gives you about 160hp, you should be fine. I can't tell where you live, but there are times when region specific cars are worth it. For example, in the Northeast I recommend all-wheel-drive vehicles considering the hills and snow storms. If you're farther out west or down south, a front wheel drive car will do. Also make sure you do a carfax check on whichever car you're buying.

If you go to autotrader.com or cars.com, you can find used cars that will give you a free carfax report. If there are oil changes every 3k-5k miles and service with very little maintenance, go for those. (Service is routine check-ups with new brakes, topping off fluids, alignments, etc. Maintenance is when there is a crash or something goes wrong out of the ordinary).

I recommend Honda. We've had 3 so far, and they're beasts. There are also options/selections for AWD and whatnot on those websites.

Gimme a PM if you want some more advice. Typically the joy of getting a new car in your driveway usually fogs up the $$$ that is spent with it.

i think i know what went wrong. you bought a mitsubishi...
i had a v6 dodge spirit one time and they have basically the same motor as a 3000gt/stealth (mitsubishi motors). fucker was burning/leaking oil like hell, and it was the second motor in it. sent that bitch to the junkyard, got and got a loan for a 02 dakota.

Buddy pulled through today!! Went and looked at it... took'er for a test drive... She's a bit loud though... that's my only concern... but its because she has a double exhaust.... instead of a single pipe its two.... so she's just a bit louder than I'd want.... but everything else is nice..

For a 17 year old car the body was in IMMACULATE shape, very very minor rust.... I was taken back by the paintjob... just how fresh it was for being the original pant 17 years old.... Car drives nice... only 190,000 km... and for a Honda that's not much. I'll be able to bang another 100,000 out of her for sure.

Power windows, locks, heated leather seats... power sunroof... Leather is a bit dinged up... but I mean, the cars SEVENTEEN years old... so the leather interior is actually in good shape all things considering.

I gave him $500 as a down payment so he holds it until tonight.... the car wasn't his.. it was his grand-daughters... so the bill of sale has to be signed by her.. and she's not off work until 6PM... so I just gave him a down payment... he wrote me up a receipt.... and tonight I'm gonna go pick my car up.

His asking price was $2000.00 CAD firm.. but after driving it... jacking it up and having a look underneath... and the engine bay.. I offered him $1700 cash on the spot and he accepted... so for 1700 I am a happy camper.

Here's a few shots of the interior of the car..... and of COURSE my dumbass forgot to take a full body picture of the car before I left... so I will take a full body picture tonight when she's parked at home... It's DARK green... so dark its almost black.
