Horrible summer in BC, is it causing my plant to flower early?

My back yard is surrounded by large cedars except for the south side. I only get full sun for about 8 hours a day. At first I thought my plant was in flower due to the amount of light it was getting. I also thought it could be the weather we are having in BC. Its been cloudy for the last few months and its not looking like its going to change. Even though summer is here. I was hoping someone could tell me why a plant that was put in the ground in the end of April would flower 3 to 4 months earlier.
Another thing is it is only growing three leaves everywhere on on the plant. I have never seen a plant act this way in the wild nor indoors. Why so early and why only three leaves?
