Hot Shot No Pest Strips?

My friend asked me to post this because he doesn't have internet access at the moment.

He has two plants in flowering, starting Week 6. About 5 days ago he hung a Hot Shot No Pest Strip that he purchased at the local hardware. He hanged it up from the ceiling about 5 ft away from where the plants are.

Today out of curiosity he asked me to Google these things to see if they are safe and I saw all sorts of warnings and hazards concerning the main ingredient Dichlorvos and it being a carcinogen and whatnot. It also brought up links to threads on grow forums like RIU discussing how dangerous NPS are. I told him this and he promptly took it down and moved it to another unoccupied room for the time being.

He's concerned though that he ruined his whole crop and that it's now too dangerous to smoke it. He's really disappointed. The plants are in the flower stage, week 6 and are probably 4-6 weeks from finishing completely.

Is his crop going to be toxic? Are NPS really that dangerous? Can he do anything to wash the crap off?

Just spray it with reg. Water couple times a day for about 8-10 days..youll be hi and bug free.

If you had read everything, you'd have seen that dichlorvos doesn't hang around on plant surfaces for more than a day.
those strip are great .. just put them away and air out your room before going back in there.

Everyone says those pest strips work but they did not for me. I think I have mutant whiteflies. His plants will be fine

It's ruined tell him to send it all to me for proper disposal.

I've never heard of anything bad about these pest strips and I use them myself. After reading your post I did some research on the subject. From what I can tell the gov is only warning about using these pest strips in hospitals and bedrooms. Their concern is mostly with the large ones, that can contain up to 100mg of the chemical toxicant.

Several universities are still recommending it to control moths and pests for food crops; mostly grain though. IMO if it's safe for grain it should be safe for cannabis. I also did find one article that mentioned using silica gel to absorb any lingering chemicals in the air.

IMO, as long as your not licking the strips or hanging them above your child's bedroom I think you'll be fine.

No they are a good clean way to control gnats. hang it closer to the plants and get more than one. They dont give u cancer bro. Carefull not to brush a plant against them though as they grab the leaf and you have to tear it off.

They are totally nasty. The thing people should do is treat them like a bomb or fogger.. Let that shit air out. No one anywhere ever has said to use it in an occupied room..

That being said, they kill bugs well.
