get a 2 outlet. add an airstone to the lower res when the roots get there. How much air /minute should my pump push thru 1 single waterfarm, not looking for minimum, more like maximum for best flow.
Thanks!
yes i do. i take some panda film (blk/white) and cut a square cover for it. and for both reasons you mentioned.Pardon me for bumping an oldish thread but @rkymtnman I see you all over the Waterfarm related posts (I just picked one up this evening) so I wanted to ask you if you find it necessary to cover the hydroton to prevent splashing seedlings or to deter algae build up.
Cool, thanks for the info and thanks for the inspiration from all of your comments.yes i do. i take some panda film (blk/white) and cut a square cover for it. and for both reasons you mentioned.
no problem. shoot me a message if you need any help with the WF. are you familiar with the common mods that most people make to them?Cool, thanks for the info and thanks for the inspiration from all of your comments.
Thanks, man. I appreciate it and might very well take you up on the offer. Yeah, I've read just about every WaterFarm fanatic forum post that there is and think I've got a good handle on the mods. I actually picked up a Power Grower version of the WaterFarm. Its grow pot actually has slot shaped holes (I made sure to add plenty my own holes) and it has a three gallon capacity as opposed to the WaterFarm's two. It's actually three inches shorter than the WF which is good because I need all the space I can get in my little cabinet.
Yeah, definitely. As will one of the three available staking points for inserting 3/4" lengths of PVC pipe. They're there for plant support but I'll use one to attach a clip on fan to.nice move, the larger reservoir will come in handy.
never heard of that one. gotta take a look at their website. if it's better than the original, you're in for a wild ride. lol. i think the best moment is when you get done with a grow and pull up the top res, the bottom res is just a solid cube of nothing but roots.I actually picked up a Power Grower

Yes, I've seen that. It's pretty spectacular and definitely inspiring. I can only hope to be half as successful on my first run.You read this one?

I set myself up with an assortment of AN's Perfect pH goodies so hopefully dealing with pH will be non-existent for me. From what I've seen, the only people that have had problems with the Perfect pH products are those that insist on checking their pH.never heard of that one. gotta take a look at their website. if it's better than the original, you're in for a wild ride. lol. i think the best moment is when you get done with a grow and pull up the top res, the bottom res is just a solid cube of nothing but roots.
i think the best mod that i made to mine is to run it drain to waste with a daily feeding. no worries about pH or EC issues.
I forgot to ask, when doing your daily drain to waste are you replacing your res with two gallons of fresh nutes every day or just adding until a predetermined amount of runoff is achieved?never heard of that one. gotta take a look at their website. if it's better than the original, you're in for a wild ride. lol. i think the best moment is when you get done with a grow and pull up the top res, the bottom res is just a solid cube of nothing but roots.

i top feed for a set time to get a decent amount of runoff. i cut the blue tube about an inch or so above the white line so that becomes the drain.I forgot to ask, when doing your daily drain to waste are you replacing your res with two gallons of fresh nutes every day or just adding until a predetermined amount of runoff is achieved?
Gotcha, thanks! Since this is my first go at this, I'll just do as directed and top off with water as needed and maybe one day when I get the hang of it I'll try doing DTW. As it is, the feeding schedule that I'll be using changes every ten days so things should be pretty straight forward during veg but all ofthat can change once flowering begins. One thing's for sure and that's that I'm bound to learn a thing or two along the way.i top feed for a set time to get a decent amount of runoff. i cut the blue tube about an inch or so above the white line so that becomes the drain.
