How big of pots should i use for my autoflowering strains? I have a 400 watt water cooled hps/mh light...the strains are (Lowlife White Russian, Easy Ryder, Paradise Seeds Pandora, Delicous Seeds La diva). If you have any knowledge of these strains i would really apprieciate some tips or any advice in general. I'm all about finding out whats best for the strains that are in my grow lab. I love you guys ONE LOVE!!!

Hey I havent done any auto's yet but from what kinda read is that they can grow! So if you have the room I'd go 5 gallon if not 2 1/2 or 3. Nice strains.

Thanks man!! Ill be growing 6 under 1 400 watt and i just want the big yeilds na mean and the fact that its water cooled i can keep it 6 inches away from the tips of my plants no problem. I'm also gonna be using subcools supersoil recipe for the first time and from i hear its the beez kneez cuz you can use straight water from start to finish and get highly medicinal buds of the best organic quallity. I'm all about it!

I was curious about using 4-5 gallon pots and maximizing my yeilds so would this hurt my overall results or should i use the 3 gallons??

It wont hurt your results at all. Your roots will keep a cosistancy of the plant itself. The bigger the plant the bigger the root mass. The roots will match the size of the plant. If the plant grows bigger so will the roots. If the roots grow bigger than the plant - they will stop and let the plant catch up.

2 to 3 all you need shape matters tall thin give you pnat thats tall thin

in case you a little grreen to autos i just posted this somewhere else

you be watin for a long time for auto to stretch
cause they dont really just grow a little then flower then die sorry
the ruderalious plant brigs the the auto features the cross whatever mixed with it brings the head cause rudy has no high to it
thats why rudy always gets mixed wit somethung strong to make up for rudy in the auto entry
i have seen some little ass autos that yield 2 spliffs --and i have seen some monsters

autos love just water first 2 weeks
autos love starting in starter soil not hot soil
autos will flower in 3 weeks or so
autos love light
autos love root stimulator
atuto need 18/6 or 20/4 light schedule

autos dislike transplant 1 time gently--maybe --thats what i do
autos hate 12/12 light schedule
autos hate full strenth nutes
autos can be cloned but a waste of time--mother and daughter will flower and die together --why
start food after week 2 at 1/4 strenth max at 1/2 strenth
i normally flush week 7 then give molasses and water till trichs say its chop time
more light more yield 2 cfl a hand full--mh more --hps more and hard buds--paerfect outside in best climate-- a big ziplock
easy to grow just let them go dont change light schedule --i normally give veg till i see flower start then switch food only

enjoy-keep em green-1Luv

or you could just buy some cheap short flowering photoperiod seeds an grow them almost from seed on 12/12 an on average you will get twice the harvest of the best yeilding auto that grew under perfect conditions in the same 9-10 weeks from germ (forget 7-8 weeks all auto benifit greatly from that extra 1-2 weeks)

auto's are getting better though i grow them around the pool in the yard to add some personality all year round to an otherwise boring cube in the middle of suburbia i have grow them in my veg tent as well , i dont grow them as daily meds nor for social smoke the fact that they produce 1/2 - 1 1/2 oz per plant dry is simply a bonus

i do hope work continues to improve the auto idea but facts are facts at the end of the day they will never compare to normal plants nature's schematics an power plant simply will not allow it

with 400 watts you should stick to 5 gallon pots, thats what most people rec. personally i would use fewer 10 gallon pots

I googled what size pots should my autoflowers be in and this thread popped up, i realize its a old one but i have a ? i have two autoflowering strains one is flower power and one is diesel ryder and i am wondering would it be okay to transplant them into 3 gallons.. they are in one gallons now and I see that most of you are saying they hate transplant.. but i can already see roots popping out of the 1 gal pots and i dont want to restrict their root growth but at the same time i dont want to freak them out by transplanting, what do you think i should do? :)

Tranplant them into 3 gallon pots. They will be fine since autos have a relative short life cycle.

Good Luck.

What I see is no one here really knows about autos.....but some sure THINK they do....
I've grown autos for 5 years perpetually...used 3 gal, 1 gal, and now use 2 ltr and get the SAME yeild as ever...not a prob at all. Manage nutrients well and control environment... Sorry to burst anyones bubble about'em...but there are much better resources on autos than what I've seen posted in this thread....

i would say dont waste money and buy any big pots. these guys are not gonna grow big at all. stick with five galls. using 10 galls would be a waste you wont see much diff. the roots are gonna stretch to fill, the root balls on autos are crazy its like they do all their growing underground.

There's no chance you will use 10 gallons of media for any of those plants. 2-3 gallon smart pots and you'll be fine. La Diva as far as autos go is one of the better ones based on my experience. Autos are inferior to photoperiod strains though at the end of the day and I recommend photoperiods in the future. Good luck.
