how can a copter spot you out?

Hey all, can anybody point me in the direction of a good thread or enlighten me about how the coptors spot your plant

i hear its with a infered signature, is there anything i can plant next to em that would help it blend in.

I guess something tall and similar in a appearance like a tomato plant, or a blueberry bush?

Also, anybody know any good outdoors strains that are mostly odorless?

I plant next to pine trees and they are almost impossible to detect with infar-red, unless they fly low enough to make a visual. my county has no funds for flyover searches......too bad huh???

Infrared is not used to detect plants.Most grow ops are busted because of smell and or unusual power consumption.Lately there have been lots of grow ops busted because people steal power.Since you are an out door grower just grow plants that can blend in with your mj plants you should be fine unless you are growing an outrageous number.

that's what i was thinking. it isn't the plants heat signature so much as that of lighting systems and their exhaust that they are looking for.

Yeah as long as you keep your temps under control they cant see nothing.I have heard many people say that but I don't know 1 person that has been busted because of the chopper using infrared.

What would you call unusual power consumption? At first i always thought it was power usage but now im hearing they can or do track times of large power usage, maybe they can nail it down to see its a light schedule?

No,nothing to do with light schedules,like getting a $1200 light bill and you live in a residential area,a house in an area where no one rarely spends more than $300-$400,and that being on the high end.I know of people getting busted for that reason before.

i've read that they cannot just sweep residential areas willy nilly with scanners - they must have a warrant..

this guy is growing outdoors it sounds like.. i would just say - cover your pots - disguise all supplies.. don't make too obvious a trail if you're in the woods.. sounds more like you are at a home - so... it is pretty cheap and easy to make a greenhouse out of fencing and plastic.. or at least a sort of lean-to sun screen for them if you are worried about getting spotted..

good luck finding an odorless grass.. lol.. i think that may be like a non-melting ice cube...

ok, here's a little education for all who thinks infar-red is not used to detect MJ. one of my best friends is a deputy sheriff (and a pot smoker) and he insist that this is how they can detect MJ, but in order for it to work, it must be in a large group of plants for the detection to be noticed and if they find MJ growing... no warrant is needed as it is a Illegal drug and they can come on your property to confiscate them! the only way they can bust you is if they catch you in the act of cultivation, watering or caring for them.

i was watchin DEA the other day they busted some guy in detroit with an infrared image of his house. the chopper was able to see the amount of heat the house was emitting and than they raided his casa and found the goods.

Yeah, but it will never hold up in court because you have to have a warrant to search a premises no questions asked. Regardless of what people think you have to follow rules in the court house. Now there are exceptions to the rules, and some people do get busted, but just because you have a few plants doesn’t mean the cops are watching you.

So the trick is to spread the plants out, rather than planting in a big patch

Ok guys, heres how it works.

Cacksprigs is right when he says keep your mouth shut. The number one way pot growers and drug dealers are caught is by their own big mouths. Here is how the infared and chopper tactics work.

Infared imaging is used on INDOOR grow houses. The infared images sense unusual amounts of heat that the house is giving off via grow lights. Most major cities have choppers fly overhead and look at many many houses at a time to see if any are suspicious, if they think that a house looks suspicious, then they go to a judge and get a warrant. (They do not need a warrant to fly the chopper overhead and use the infared camera).

For outdoor grows, choppers are used to visually look for gardens. It is bologna when you hear bud plants give off more heat than other plants so they use the imaging on them. Completely false. They fly over to look for large gardens, gardens in unusual spots, pots and containers used for gardening etc...If you want to keep them safe, plant them around big trees or in fields that have similiar looking plants (tall weeds, bushy plants etc...) Don't leave containers laying around and if you are going to use pots try to conceal the color of them as this can be seen surprisingly far away....hope this helps.....

according to my cop buddy.... yes. don't clump together. the law in my county is no warrant is necessary to confiscate mj being grown on land, but is necessary to have if growing indoors or surrounding buildings, such as your home, garage, barn, sheds, etc! it's nice to have someone on the other side giving me valuable insight, although he thinks I just buy mine off the streets and NOT growing myself. my motto....DTA! don't trust anyone!

Finally some good advice lol, only issue i have is with the warrant. People think the police need cause to get a warrant, they dont. They only need to pass the suspicion on to the courts and the warrant isnt much more then a phone call away. Ive been right next to drug houses that looked perfectly normal, police yapped everyone up on half the street and no1 told, basically cause we were all waitting for our stuff so we had no stuff to snitch for lol (not from this kid tho) . After getting nothing out of us 30 min later they rolled up and slammed in the door, thier only evidence was seeing this person ,whod just gotten out of jail a few months earlier, dressing in fresh cloths. Later on in the police report the police stated theyd made a buy outside of that very house. The kid sold weight not small stuff and only to a few people (hense why non of us got anything from him lol) I had been out there doing things i had no business doing for months before this kid got home, and no1 as much as stepped foot on this kids stoop. So i guess its not only your mouth, if your selling it keep the flash to a minimum hehe. Do not pretend you are impervious to a warrant because you show no direct signs.

Alright good deal, you guys have been very helpful. I feel alot better, it seems like your more likely to get busted if you have multiple plants, where as i just have an LST'd little bush that looks just like the other bush i bought from home depot. I transplanted into the ground about a week ago, she's been vegging indoors( since january, but its no bigger then 1' 6'' feet tall so im content. And i only hear coptors every once in a while and its usually never right over head my house. And i got alot of big trees surrounding my house, i live in the vally part of my area.

But as far as inside grows go i have a 250w hps about to be in use, as well as a 125w T5 fluro in the same box. The temps should stay around 78-84 at the hottest, will this be able to be picked up by infered?

the infared DOES NOT SEE THROUGH A HOUSE....the thing with infared that people dont realize is that it sees heat ESCAPING from your house....so if you have a fan blowing the hot air from your bulbs out of your house that is where the infared will pick it up.....any cracks in your house and or windows are also other places that heat can escape....my advice to you is to hook your exhaust fan (with a filter so ppl cant smell it), onto the hose that lets out the exhaust from your dryer....this way it looks as though you are simply drying clothes....other than that......i wouldnt worry much about your 250w and 125w, that is not a lot of heat output at all, nfared picks up multiple 1000 watts much easier

i thought it was the fertilizer that let of heat??
