How can i eliminate smell!!! Cheap!!!

My plants are in the second day of flowering and they are very very potent...... I was just wondering how can i eliminate the smell without tampering with the growth of my girls!!!!!

attach a carbon filter or odor sock (or DIY something) and attach it to your exhaust fan.

with carbon filters some say it isn't necessary to vent.. my question would be, is that wise? potentially harmful? or quite alright?

i'm not sure i understand your question - the carbon filter is passive. the only way to make it work is to force the stinky air through it. perhaps you are thinking of ozone generators, which can also eliminate odor but they do have related health-risks if used improperly. I've never heard carbon filters being dangerous.

excuse my noobishness, i am just curious, as some carbon filters have exhaust duct hookups and some do not. umm.. if you know what i mean. i am just wondering if it doesn't circulate the air as well, or if the stink will reside somewhat... crap like that

the air coming out of a carbon filter should be fresh and clean with no odor. fresh air comes in from some intake holes, is sucked through the filter and exhausted outside the grow area via the exhaust fan. you can also put the filter on the outside of the grow area and exhaust the air through it that way also. either way, your grow area should be receiving a constant supply of fresh air and your plants shouldn't be stinking up the neighborhood. if you are in the same room, you'll probably smell it.

Buy ONA (Odour Neutralizing Agent). Search ebay under ONA. Works great!

righttt... what size filter would you use for a 20-40 plant setup? i am not sure how to gauge the volumes they rate them for.

the biggest one i could find! seriously - i don't know - i just grow a few.

thank you guys for the help....I am going to try all of the advice and see which one works best through trial and error!

i use ona i buy the the one gallon buckets cut a big hole on the top and use a puck fan on top of the hole and plug it in and it works great. Peace

There are some filters that are meant to be run in the room stand-alone...but most are meant to be used in the exhaust scheme. You probably need to check a couple of things...and it probably won't end up too cheap if you have 20+ plants.
1. You need to make sure you are blowing out more air in that room than you are sucking in (400cfm out, 200 cfm in, but not too much of a difference or you'll create a vacuum type situation I have heard...).
2. You probably want to have a nice carbon scrubber somewhere inside the room (possibly on the intake to your air-cooled hoods) that air is sucked through before being exhausted.
3. I haven't tried the ONA but I am surely going to as everyone here seems to love it and the people here seem to be pretty experienced.

Depending on your set-up, there is a carbon filter that will work for you I am sure...either a couple stand-alone kind, one or more hooked to your hoods, or one or more on your exhaust. Anyway I am new and just book-knowledgeable at the moment, but I hope that helps!

would one of those airwick autosprayers work? they spray oder neutralizing mist into the air, but would it be harmful to the plants if it even would work?

i have tried "covering up" the smell with a variety of products (airwick. glade, ozium, etc..) and it just smells like whatever you're using PLUS the smell of marijuana. I even tried one of those ONA-odor blocks (not the ball) and that didn't work.

the only thing i have tried that does the job is a carbon filter (but i haven't tried one of those Ona - big blue balls or whatever it is - people here seem to really like it and they are relatively inexpensive.

Speaking of cheap - you must weigh the cost of getting busted vs. the cost of odor control/other concealment measures....

i also agree with the dryer sheets if you want to go cheap. but if you want to be super effective go with the carbon filter.

This just mixes up in the marijuana smell and makes the room smell even sweeter. It doesnt cover it up.

- I just noticed email468 said the same thing, if at all i say its worse. Maybe a completely different smell like wood could distract from the smell.
