How can I rapidly adjust PH in soil growth?

I always thought rapidly changing the Ph of soil is a bad thing.
In any case, I was going to suggest dolomite lime, but that is more of a long-term Ph normalizer. From what I've read, Hydrated lime might change the Ph faster but it tends to burn the roots (bad mmmmkay).
But don't take my word for it

Don't rapidly change Ph of soil. Your goal should be keeping it relatively stable.

the ph of pro mix to start is between 5.5 and 6.5. You want to keep it right around there. You can buy ph up and ph down at any hydro store or many places online. If you water your plants with water in that range of ph, you don't have to worry about fluctuations. If your already growing in pro mix and your ph is drastically off, start watering with the corrected ph water and you will gradually bring the soil ph to where it needs to be. These guys above have it right you don't want huge ph swings, even though different elements are absorbed better at different ph levels.
Thanks for the info. I was just concerned that if the PH was off I wanted to get it back to where it should be as fast as possible. But I see that that is not a good idea. This ph up and down product you are referring to..is it also good for soil? Just never heard of it (of course I am a novice on the growing side of this!)

ph up and down adjusts the water you plan to give to your plants no matter what medium they are in, soil, soiless, rockwool, hydroton, whatever it may be. It is a good idea to give your plants water at the proper ph for nutrient absorbtion.
