How close to have my lights to seedlings

How close should I have my light to my seedlings, I’m currently running a lumii black 600watt mh that I have set to 400watt, it’s rougly ten inches from the tops of my plants

Take advice from your plants. They're stretching quite a bit so the light is too far.
 
very true the plants tell. yours tell me they were just put under that light. 10 inches is close for 400w if they were planted that close to it they wouldn't be leggy
 
Yes they were just put closer in the last few days, I read if it feels comfortable on the back of my hand that it will be fine for the plants?

on a fully established plant that is healthy then this would be true. What you really need is a 2' two bulb t-5 rig ten inches away at this stage.
 
I germinate under a 315 cmh at 4 ft and let the plants grow up to the light. Never had a streching problem
