Bud needs a dark room with good ventilation, doors open would be perfect but the neighbours might not be so happy. Most people will settle for a dark area with a fan blowing but not directly on the bud because it will dry too quick. About a week later it should be dry enough for jars. Cure the bud in jars for a month or two minimum and its good to smoke.

go far away from your garden, you can trim the fan leaves off, and the sugar trim in you want, you can hang them, keep the humidity below 50% and fresh air circulating. no direct air on buds. if your dry area smells like shoes, so shall your weed. If it's moldy, or mildew smelling, your smoke will be too. keep the temp around 70-75 f, for about a week, or when the large stems "snap" when bent, and ready to smoke, or cure in a jar, burped daily, until gone !
You could also hang your largest cola from a little scale, and when 75% of it's weight(water) is gone, ready also.

good luck. dont be in a rush to discover curing, if its shitty after a week in a proper dry, it will always be shitty.

Ive grown 20 or so strains and have only come across one strain I would smoke happily without a cure. That was GH Lemon skunk, you could leave a small bud on the radiator for a day and still enjoy a joint.

I would say the vast majority of strains benefit in both potency and taste after a good cure. I wish this was'nt the case but it is.
