i have that one, i don't like it too well. i'll be replacing it with the one that plugs into the comp.

you need to turn the light on and hover it over where you want to examine... you should see some small very blurry image. you will now want to focus it until it's clear trying hard not to move it b/c its very sensitive and youll have to refocus again. You'll get the feel for it soon though...

I give up on the little cheap ass microscope. Sometimes I would look and it would be crystal clear and next time I couldn't see a thing. I got a camera with macro setting, then I can zoom as close as I can, then magnify it on the computer. It gives me a much better look than I could get with the microscope. Much simpler to use for me.

Its a lot easier checking it off the plant. However I can manage either way. The focus on it basically sets how far from the bottom of the mic things are in focus. Its a pain to adjust it while your a looking through it since with one hand you are holding the plant and the other the mic. What I do is set it so it focuses close the mic then push the mic on the bud and if its out of focus I move the bud by pushing it closer till its in focus. You want the light on the mic on and normal ambient lighting (NOT with your 1K HPS on, you;d think that would help but it makes it harder to see). BTW never look at a spider mite with it, it will creep you out, lol. Trust me they look way better as black dots.

i use mine like the dude uses his, and it works ok for its purposes.. it is very shakey till you get used to using it.. i like to sit it on a bud and let the bud hold it still kind of it that makes sense.. and i do like the dude anad just move the bud around till i find those oh soo lovely glandular heads that i'm looking for.. i've tried to let others see my trics with it, and nobody but me can see poo out of it..

why is everyone checking the trichs on the plant? its not that hard to cut a tiny piece off, and put it on the table. now u have a nice flat surface that doesnt move.

trying to get the scope into focus while trying to hold the plant too, isnt going to happen. its just a pain in the ass

phenix.... cut that SMALL piece of nug off, and throw it on the table. this small piece has to fit in that little circle on the clear plastic bottom part of the scope. put the scope over it, and move it around till u can see green. now just adjust the focus until u can see it. if u need more/less zoom, change it, then readjust the focus

its pretty simple once u get it

that piece youre lookin at represents that nug. depending on the size of the plants, the tops could be done, while the bottom nugs still arent

You probably want to check a few different sites. I usually check a few colas towards the top (I supercrop so I check the real main and one or 2 side branches that have grown to main colas) and some mid plant sites to get a good picture of whats going on with the entire plant

I in no way want to get into a debate over this but 50% amber sounds past done to me, but if thats how you like them cool. I'm just mentioning this in case you havent heard this opinion before not that one way is wrong or right :)

I place mine flat on a table. Turn on the light, set the magnification to where you want it. I go with the lowest power @60. That will give you the widest field of view. With the scope sitting upright and flat on the table adjust the focus until you have a 60x view of the table surface. Then don't adjust anymore, just look at the plant. By setting the scope first you don't have to try to adjust it while you're trying to view the trichs. I have the 60-100x lighted scope from radio shack if that helps any. Hope you get it figured out.

I bought a x60 pocket microscope--I just found it too awkward to see the trichomes.

I aim to examine them on the plant in the bud room. Of course with the fans and everything blowing around...it's a pain. I wanna examine the trichs with as little touch as possible, that way, there's less chance of crushing the them.

I find a jeweler's Lope is the answer. I stick that sucker in my eye (which is only x30) and I can look at any flower on any plant without touching anything except a branch.

They cost 20-30 clams

This is great "how to", thanks. I was finally able to see something in the dang thing.

i diddnt read all the comments but are u serious. these suckers work great. its not the microscope its human error. just cut off a trichome covered leaf set it on a table and set the microscope over it... Im laughing my ass off at all the people hovering over their plants with it saying "its blurry".
