take out the central leader. Or terminal bud or apical meristem, w/e you wanna call it. thats what topping is basically.

count 5 pairs of leafs up the stem, take a pair of scissors, and cut the main stem anywhere above the 5th node (pair of leaves on the stem).
then root the top and grow it out also

run to lowes. in the gardening area they have a root cloneing agent. its a powder and works great. 5.00 for the small jar, and it ll last a LONG time.
pour a bit of the agent on the bottom of the topped stem, after scraping the outter edge of it, then gently put it back in the dirt and gently water, and put under veg lights.

USE GEL PLEASE.

Powders are notorious for having an uneven coating, washing off quickly, and other such falicies that lower productivity.

Some will argue liquids are better, it comes down to use.
Cubes, pucks, bubbleponics, and other cloning methods each work better with different types of root hormone,
but for most growers, gels are the shit.

I gotta agree with C.indica. I like the gels because they stay on evenly and in the end you have a higher rate of success. Well I did anyway. If you gotta stick it in a glass of water for a day or two till you get the hormone you'll be ok

Make sure you give them a good week or so before switching them to 12/12 after topping.
