How do you determine last 2 or 3 weeks

So, I read a lot of shit here, and everywhere else that says something along the lines of change to these kind of nutes, or to start doing something different in the last 2 or 3 weeks. How do you determine you have exactly that much time left to make those adjustments? For instance the bud below. Is it in the two week window, or 3, or 4, etc. I just have a difficult time making this determination. I’m open to learning what to look for in predicting.

I have been seeing a lot of post and if their are a lot of white pistols showing means at least 4 more weeks and all have been correct. since I took the advise on waiting on what they said I can’t believe how much mine swelled and glad I waited because would have chopped early like I did last grow. Last grow I probably set a record on the hairiest bud ever produced. Even though was all orange I should had waited the two extra weeks. I think most will say wait two weeks and check again but I bet it will be four weeks to chop

Almost all strains run 10 weeks from flip. Or about 76 days.... work it out from there....

This is why a load of people take cuttings and rerun the same plant....

Ok, that sounds like a plan. That bud I posted is on day 53 from flip, so you’d estimate 3 to 4 more weeks.

Thank you, I’ve grown quite a long time, but I think I could be accused of always chopping early, so I’m really trying to get a handle on all this “how much time left” shit. Just don’t know how people estimate it.

You've got to see some plants go all the way to get better at estimating. I started out chopping to early, just like everyone else, because they looked "good." Gradually I'd let the plants go a little longer each grow, and they looked better and better until I finally saw what "done" looked like.

I did kind of shoot myself in the foot early on by feeding plants less, too early, and causing them to get hungry and stop early. Like I didn't see much improvement after 7-8 weeks because my plants were depleted because I stopped feeding week 6.

10 weeks from flip (or 8 weeks + 2 week transition/stretch period) is a good place to start. Feeding until at least week 9 is probably good advice.

That helps, thanks. I’ve been using fox farm big bloom and tiger bloom, and bought some beastie bloomz today I’m going to start using tomorrow. These are some pretty big buds right now, I can’t wait to see what they’ll look like in 5 weeks.

Don't change too much mate... I woukd say just keep doing what yer doing. Keep it simple!

You don't actually need to flush at all

Thanks, and I agree, not a flusher. I’m 99% sure that has no effect, and I know that’s one of the hottest debated topic.

Usually when you think it's just about ready you got another 2 weeks
The end can be seen when the buds start to fill out more. They begin to swell becoming more and more dense, hairs retract in then start to shrivel up over the last weeks
I also find the plant begins to drink less and I water less frequently. This generally tells me I'm nearing the finish line

Thanks for the responses. Lots of good tips that will help me, and hopefully the even newer growers out if they read this. It’s been very beneficial.

The swell is a good one. Maybe that starts around week 8 or so?

Hairs turning red is OK too. I Believe that the swell should come before the redness. And that it's possible to go too heavy with phosphorus during mid flower and burn all your pistols so they turn red prematurely. And I believe that if you're seeing a lot of brown/red pistols on un-swelled buds, you might be over fertilizing.

It does have an effect. It starves the plant and makes your buds not finish proper :)
I agree. I grow in soil. over feralizing is a big problem, that and over watering (not on this plant just in general) . I personally "flush" I switch in between water and nutes every watering. I give the last 2-3 watering just water. so like maybe a week of just water.

I just watch my ec/ppm and check runoff. I'll give em a shot of straight water once or twice at the very end and check my runoff make sure it's lowering.
