How far will smell travel?

I'm going to be growing outside this year, I've found a pretty good spot. The thing is it's 900' off of a trail, I'll explain the situation. But other than that it is the ideal spot, good light and there is a small stream just up from it.

The grow spot I have located is across a small river (20' Wide) and about 900 feet up from the far side of the river, the trail is just on the other side of this river.

So What I'm wondering is, am I going to be safe here? Will the smell travel that far?

I'm really only worried about the smell, I've never seen anyone on the other side of this river. The walk in if you don't cross the river is around 1 mile.

Worry about choppers and people stumbling on it...The smell is gonna be their its outdoors.......You would be suprized how many foot prints ive seen but they took nothing it was like they where just amazed what they found and walked away and left it alone.

so I wouldnt do it right off a trail of somthing its worth the hike you gotta make just to make sure nobody finds it that is just walking around. Its easy around here though because the soil is good I dont have to take soil to the grow...

I hike about 45 minutes out into no where with my GPS and mark spots on the GPS. Seems to work for me I can go places people cant unless they wanna get lost.

DO NOT GROW RIGHT NEXT TO A WATER SOURCE!!! Make it as far away as possible from the river that you dont mind walking. If your lazy your gonna get caught and its all gonna be a waist.

Well the main problem around here is that the soil is pretty shit, lots of pines. I do have to carry the soil in, so walking 45 minutes into the woods is a no-go. To top it off everything is straight up hill here, even this spot is across the river then pretty much straight up.

It's not right next to a water source, the small stream is about 600 from the spot.

I'd also like to add that I now feel like an asshole, I did do a search for topics about smell. But what I searched didn't bring anything up, had I scrolled down half a page I would have seen a thread asking the same question.

Im telling you its not easy....You making it easier on your self could make it harder on you in the end when they bust you watering your plants right next to a trail..They dont like it when you grow out in the middle of no where they really are gonna hate you grew it where kids could find it easy.

Dont grow outdoors illegaly and expect not to get caught a few houndred feet off a trail and right next to a river..It asking to get busted and lots of jail time... Choppers fly around trails and rivers and even lakes and ponds...You are prolly thinking "yeah whatever stupid cops" but they do it for a living and they know what to look for because they have been there done that and you havent and they know it.

Eh I guess I'll have to find a new spot then, I have another one, but that spot is another half mile out. In fact I was going to check out the other spot I was looking at, but I was getting dark to fast to make it out.

The thing that is going to be hard is carrying 20 5 gallon buckets and all the soil out. Like I said it is all up hill here, we have no flat land. I'm about to just walk out into the woods a good distance and make my own spot with a saw. I figure one big tree fell at just the right angle should make a nice grow area, just worried about helicopters spotting it from the air. I imagine I could hide the stump of the tree with some small pine tree's transplanted next to it. And I'd have to make sure to get rid of all the sawdust.

One day take your soil and dump it out take the trash with you..Next day take some perlite dump it out take your trash..Day after that take your shuvle or hoe and mix up the shit and break up the ground. Next go set up some more and leave some water cans there bigger the better but not so big you have to be BrownDirtWarrior to lug them around.. Then start taking clones in shoe boxes in a back pack tell the spot is full. And pray to god you dont get worked hard or get fucked by the man or nature.

Get creative with clone carrying or just take seeds but then you gotta throw away half your work witch is a drag. You dont need big plants to start people just do that because the plant can take more wind and elements if your in the woods I wouldnt worry about the size of the clones ass long as they are rooted. If ph is a problem add lime.

Well I'm not real sure how big they will be when I move them, they are pushing about 3 inches right now.


Well I guess I'll go out and find a new spot tomorrow, way way out. I figure 3/4 of a mile to a mile is enough. I'll just have to suffer carrying in all the soil, that stuff is heavy. Hell if I get on top of it and get the soil before the snow melts I can use a sled, be much easier to haul that out. Looks like i'm going to be putting in a lot of hard work, I guess It will be all the better when I get to smoke it.

Because of the snow I always go in before a storm, to easy to track other wise.

1ting i havnt seen mentioned i tink mite be importan an i kno for fakt cuz 1 my homi stil doin time cuz he didnt do it is try hiding the plants under trees put sum brush around the area make it lok lik nothing there get rid of ya footprints to kops dont kare bout murder no more than jus want us now

i wish i could read some of these posts. these people who write illiterate garbage no-one can read, just keeps up the myth that potheads are illiterate. most of us on here are very educated, but when people look in here, they only remember the illiterate posts. it really brings down the quality of this site, and the validity of the advise.

I wonder if they realize exactly how retarted they look. I have nothing against black, i have alot of black friends. I get along with most everyone, but when i white guy tries to act black and be a thug, pimp, playuh, or gangster of some sort it just pisses me off. Makes me want to say "What is wrong with acting your color?". And once again, i am not racist or prejudice.
