I've been checking these out online today, and it appears that speed is the limiting factor - I've read anywhere from 30-90 minutes per gallon (30 from manufacturer, 90 from a user review). Splitting the difference, that's 1 hour per gallon. I'm not sure I want to wait 6 hours for my "mixing res" to fill up. That's valuable kitchen sink time for a family household.
Is that pretty much a consequence you accept with an RO system? Ideas for how to make this less of a PITA?
I must say, the appeal of using one for cooking and ice is pretty nice, though. The fridge carbon filter only knocks out about 10% of the TDS, according to my meter. Not terribly surprising.
