don't succumb to the marketing blitz. They are fine nutes for sure. The best? mmmm debatable. The most overpriced? Likely.

The certainly seem to be the most complicated route to go.

I think the guy at the hydro store said it best "people tend to love them or hate them".

I went a different route. I would suggest going with the brand you have the most information about (i.e. real world grow journals detailing their usage)

Very concentrated you use less than say if you were using floranova. I love them but can't say I've used anything else got a good system down and don't want to change it.

I use Advanced Nutrients, Iguana Juice: Grow & Advanced Nutrients, Iguana Juice: Bloom. So far it has been excellent, and i am very impressed
However, I am always learning and looking for better simpler ways to improve my genetics may it be smell, taste, bud density or size.
The Plants I Like Love the Nutes (Kush Strains), I can Feed my strain up to 7ml per liter late into flower before they show any signs of nute burn, the recommended dose is 4.55ml per liter on the Advanced Nutrients nutrient calculator
if you need the chart for that it is here
http://www.advancednutrients.com/nutcalc3backup/nutrient_calculator.html

Remember there is only so much you can do with the genetics of that plant. you can enhance the growth with proper nutrients, but you unfortunately cannot turn dogshit into diamonds.
The biggest factor I believe is the size of the plant, experience and your roots.. I am not kidding when I say this, Happy Roots Make Happy Fruits.
Using big pots and growing big plants is the only way to substantially increase size of your plant and therefore gaining larger buds, But sometimes even that doesn't make a difference.
Your experience and knowledge of the plant will help substancially.
My current grow journal is a test, believe it, or not. To see if I can get bigger buds from more light.
I already know what my genetics produces with the height that I am growing them at and in the size of containers that I am growing them in, but I want to see if I can increase the bud size with more light.

Do multiple tests, ask questions, find out what works best for you and your genetics.
First thing I suggest you learn; if you don't already know how to clone, learn how to clone.
They will become your best friends and teach you alot.
Try a couple of strains at a time. no one is telling you to set up a huge show, but get creative try out a couple of strains even if all you have is a couple of seeds from some killer buds you smoked.
start with 2 strains, make 1-2 clones of each strain, flower those clones that you made and that will tell you generally what each of the strains will produce; wether it be dense buds or fluffy buds.
some bag seeds offer fluffy airy bud while others offer huge dense nuggets.
That is when you get creative and start obtaining all of the enhancers after you know what the strain has to offer.

2 people can grow the same plant and they can look like totally different strains.

Some plants that I have growing are the same strain and from simply being grown under two different types of light at the same time (600 watt HPS + 600 watt MH) oddly enough some of them are appearing to look different from each other.

There is my stoned out of my mind rant.. I love the pot that I produce.. LOL

I first started to grow hydroponically.
You can check out the 3 links below to see those grows.

You're going to hear a million different answers to your question, so be prepared to be inundated with advice. Everyone knows the 'best' way to grow here.

In the end, yes, you need to choose the nutes that work best for you. This might not happen on the first try. You might find you need to use different nutes in different combinations, depending on the strains you have, growing conditions you have, etc.

For what it's worth, I think Advanced Nutrients is the best...for me. Is the best for everyone? Eh, I don't think that's fair to say. I have had nothing but great results from using the nutes though - worth the cost, IMHO.

Here's what you should do, use their base nutes and choose one to two extras in your hydro grow.

My suggestions:

Grow-Micro-Bloom
Bud Candy
Big Bud

This way, you can keep things simple, but still find out if this is the right lineup for you. Follow the directions on the bottles (or ask on the board once you choose the nutes you're using). Use about 25% less nutes than the bottles say - from my personal experience, this works better.

Marketing shmarketing. I think you should focus more on the nutes than on those who make it about business practices on these boards. See if they work for you and then form an opinion.
