How long do you usually veg?

How long does everyone here veg? I'd like to see the different amount of times people do it for.. or do you just switch it up very time..

I'm on my 2nd grow (or 1st with real grow gear) and i aimed at vegging 8 weeks but was just too damn excited I gave in and vegged at 5 weeks.. hopfully i get a decent yield with soil

what does everyone else do and what medium do you use

Hey Raphie...

let us assume that the plants are VERY healthy and have NO problemss...

well then the vegging time will depend on

number of plants and LIGHT available and weather you are starting from clone or seed..

If you are growing with CFLS and start from seed.. then there is no reason to veg for more tha 14-18 days... the light will never support a bigger plant.. and it is not the size that is so relevant when determining FLOWERING time but rather the number of nodes....


Even if you are flowering under HIDs you can still produce 20 plants that yield 2-4 ounces a piece BY flowering them with only 4 nodes at 14-18s days of veg time...

BUT that being said.. a lot of people still veg for 4-8 weeks... totally unneccassary except under special conditions that reuire large plants.... but even THEN.. most gorws I have seen with large plants do not provide nearly adequate light for anything below the top 6-24 inches of the plant.....

i use four 3' floros for vegging. usually go about 2 months. they grow slow under this light but that works perfect for me since the flowering cycle is about 2 months.

i start the seeds with CFLs then go to MH for vegging.. i guess it was pointless for me to go 2 months then if i didnt have sufficient light to cover it all.. thanks for the info garden knowm.. that really explained it well..

i veg for 14-28 day but for me its all about how hi the plant is befor i start to flower it, and how hi i can let the plant grow with out burning it, so a 16" veged plant, will end up 36"-50" when finishd flowering.

I believe I had 4 - 6 nodes at flower time.. lets just say 5.. heres a pic of them now (day 4 into flowering)

Hey Ralphie..

Looks pretty darn good and f they stay healthy yuouare going to get SOME great yields..

I do have one concern.. The newest set of fanleaves should always be larger and "better than the previous set..... Your third set down from the TOP (most recent set) does not look like it groew as big as they should have.. Are you experiencing any stunting? I could be totally wrong..

im having the same problem. i been vegging for 6 weeks and 4 days but im so impatient. i wanna flower them but im forcing myself from doing it. there 1 foot tall. should i flowetr them??

The water is getting PH'd. I also have a soil PH kit and the soil is at a steady 6.5.. I believe i made the mistake of overwatering (not letting the soil dry out completley).. now i have a moisture meter and that should fix the issue..

i just hope 3 of them are females
