Depends on strain/ conditions ect.. Get a handheld 60+ microscope ... harvest between 10 percent to 50 percent amber depending on preference..

Yeah what that guy said. You harvest based on the trichs not the time. The more you want it couchlock the longer you let them go amber, the more you want it cerebral you can chop when they first start turning amber. You can get a jewelers microscope off ebay for like 5 bucks or get a usb one like this.

when the buds have stopped swelling, most of the hairs have receded, and the trichome heads start turning from cloudy to amber. 8 weeks is usually the average.

Yes, use a pocket microscope to check the trichomes. You want them mostly cloudy with some amber. The more amber the more couch lock and less head high. Using the pocket microscope, take some "samples" when the trix turn cloudy, see if you like it, then take some when they are amber and try that. Then you'll know what you prefer and you can then use your pocket microscope to govern when you harvest based on trichome color.
